Hello- I don't understand what you are saying. If this is a problem happening, please can you provide more details so I can look into it. If it's not a problem, ignore.

Jerry
Here is what I see after replying to this thread:

New forum observations thread

My avatar has overwritten part of yours - it should show only yours as the OP.

That's weird. I am not sure if that is happening to just you or all "Registered" users. I don't see that issue as I am an admin. I will look into it later.

If this is happening to any other members please let me know. I need to determine if it is a browser or forum setting. Its probably a forum setting. I do have more important things to look into first, but I will definitely get back to this.

Thanks for letting me know

Now I have replied to this thread, I see my avatar in the corner of yours on the main Norton Commando Classic Motorcycles page.
Anyone else who replies will see their avatar (if they have one).

OK, it looks as though L.A.B. has the answer: it's a forum feature.
If you reply to a thread, you see your avatar within the OP's avatar to indicate that you have participated in that thread - neat.

I'd like to observe that I really like the new forum and really appreciate the work that Jerry has done. I might need to start posting more!

I originally posted this in the "Access Norton Control Panel" thread today, but it probably belongs here.

"Two things I've noticed. I'm not "Stay Logged In" should I restart my computer, and a thread I started in the new setup (has no replays yet) does not show up at all under the "New Posts" list no matter how back I go. I believe I have it set to watch all the forum sub-headings.

EDIT - Now that I've replied to this thread, it's now not showing up in my "New Posts" lists..."

No, just log out, then log in again using the "Stay Logged In" option.

Yes, every time I log in I click the "stay logged in" button, but if I turn my lap top off and come back later I have to log back in again. The old forum wasn't that way, and all the other forums I'm on aren't that way.

After I make a post that thread then disappears. Doesn't show up on "new posts" again or at all. The only way I could find this thread was to go to "my content" under my user name. That's happened for two different threads on me now. If I log out they show up again. Whyzzat?

I don't know, that hasn't happened to me. I click "Post Reply" and the reply is immediately added to the end of the thread and the thread is there when I return to the main page.

I wish it were that easy. I am concerned about the links in the threads and in the posts. These links go to where the links used to be on the old forum. The URL path is different now. I am trying to write a script (mod_rewrite) that will redirect all old links to new links. I hope I can pull it off. I will give it go on the weekend.

I already have a script that will find all broken links in the forum. Worst case scenario I will run that, note all broken links and fix them manually. I hope I dont have to take that approach as there are thousands of them.

Stay tuned...

Jerry: Is there an easy way for each of us who posted links on the old forum, to get a listing? If so, I would fix my own, and am sure many others would also do so.

I know I can definitely find all the broken links. I have not had a chance to look into this too much as I have a huge contract I am working for a company that is time sensitive. I will look into it more later. Its already on my list.

Well I am the programmer :) I have been trying to figure this out and this is what I have come up with for htaccess:

RewriteRule ^(viewforum|viewtopic)\.php phpbb.php [NC,L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)\.html html.php [NC,L]

Its not working. I am trying to juggle all of this with my real job lol. Are you experienced in apache re-write? I am listening if you are. If not I will get back to the redirect issue later.

Cheers

Can't help with apache, I've sent a note to a developer, will keep you posted.

I think "stay logged in" works for most browsers, but not I-Pad. At least that is my experience using Firefox on my desktop, my Samsung tablet, and my I-Pad. FWIW, it did not work on my I-Pad with the old Forum.

Slick

"Stay logged in" works fine for me. Make sure you enable cookies in your browser?

I am trying to get back to the dark back ground. I go to prefs and try to select the style but it just goes to default. A selection came up which asked me to pick a style when I first logged in and now I can't find it again. I liked the old appearance better

Scroll to the bottom of the page, [Edit] in light background, on the left hand side, you should see "Default Style".
Left click, then select "Norton Commando Forum" for dark background.
