You take a gig in the third world, it is up to you to know what you are getting yourself into. These are, allegedly, adult level positions. I mean, you join the military you have to figure getting shot at . Same deal.

Sudan Military Finishes Review of Russian Red Sea Base Deal

Feb 11 2023

Russia would provide weapons to Sudan in return for Red Sea navy base

Military leaders who control power in Khartoum approved a deal to establish a logistic base for the Russian navy in Port Sudan, in return; Moscow would provide weapons and equipment to the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF).

On February 9, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held talks with the Head of the Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and his deputy Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.

Before leaving the Sudanese capital, Lavrov told reporters that the deal, which was agreed upon during the rule of former President Omer al-Bashir, is readily awaiting the approval of the Sudanese parliament, without further details.
In June 2021, Lt Gen Mohamed Osman al-Hussein, Chief of General Staff, stated they need to review the agreement.

Citing Sudanese military sources, the Associated Press on Saturday reported that the Sudanese army has given the green light for the military base after getting the Russian commitment to meet Sudan’s demand including weapons and equipment.

“They cleared all our concerns. The deal has become OK from the military side,” a Sudanese military official to The AP.

The military base on the Red Sea will host 300 troops and four military ships including nuclear-powered ones. The base is crucial for Moscow’s plans to expand its influence in Africa and link landlocked countries where they are present with the Red Sea.
Moscow is accused of seeking to destabilize the Paris-supported government in Africa and offering troops hired by the Russian private security contractor Wagner to protect military regimes that flared in the continent.

Until recently, the focus was shed on the head of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the deputy head of the Sovereign Council after several reports about his close cooperation with Wagner in Sudan cold mining and in the neighbouring Central African Republic.

British diplomats evacuated but British nationals remain trapped in war zone. The covert mission to evacuate British diplomats and their families from Sudan's warzone capital began under the cover of darkness.

White House has no immediate plans to evacuate Americans trapped in Sudan, will help 'to the extent possible'

An estimated 16,000 private U.S. citizens are registered at the U.S. Embassy in Sudan

World Military Spending Reaches Record High. 25/04/2023

Global military expenditure increased by 3.7% in 2022, reaching a new high of $2240 billion, according to new data by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).

The most significant spending spike was in Europe, sparked by the Ukraine conflict; EU nations increased their defense spending by around 13%. Some of the sharpest increases were seen in Finland (+36%), Lithuania (+27%), Sweden (+12%), and Poland (+11%).

Ukraine’s military spending reached $44.0 billion in 2022, an increase of 640%, the highest single-year increase in a country’s military expenditure recorded in SIPRI data. Russian military spending grew by 9.2% to around $86.4 billion.

The US once again was the top military spender with $877 billion in 2022, some 39% of all military spending worldwide. China also remained the world’s second-largest military spender, allocating $292 billion in 2022, a 4.2% increase from the prior year.

Australia Needs Defense Upgrade Amidst China Military Buildup — Canberra

According to a government-commissioned review released Monday, Australia must ramp up its defense spending, produce domestic munitions, and develop longer-range strike capabilities.

PM Anthony Albanese said his administration ordered the country’s most significant review since World War II, which suggests boosting defense spending beyond its current 2% of GDP and strengthening ties with Indo-Pacific allies such as Japan and India.

The report highlighted that the US - Australia’s biggest defense treaty partner - was “no longer the unipolar leader of the Indo-Pacific, “ moving priorities away from howitzers and infantry vehicles towards long-range HIMARS systems.

Why is the human race so obsessed with war, it's not the people but the people in power, yes we will always have tyrant and rogue states/countries who keep their people under control and feed them B S and untruths, then you get countries who get rich by selling and supplying weapons, and Australia now going with nuke subs, we won't benefit from that deal, the US of A and Britian will get the most out of that deal and the rest of our defence will suffer as the money has to come from somewhere, who pays for it in the long term, and how many wars after WW11 where the major powers came out second best and off course we always get dragged into them conflicts.
We had a defence minister in the last gov who was picking a fight with China Australia V China 24 million population V 2 billion population who has as many service people we have population W T F and now he got booted out and now he is the leader of the opposition, I'm not trying to be political here but fighting words gets us nowhere, have we not learned from all the conflicts that we have gone through.
Just look what's happening at the top end of the world one thought he win within 10 days and now it's been well over 15 months and no end in sight at all because of one power mad person and only if he was honest with his own people.
WW1 was surpose to stop all wars, well that didn't work, and if the US of A and China get into it the rest of the world will be dragged into it, will the earth survive but I know one thing every country in the world will go broke and normal people will suffer, well I suppose if a virus don't get us war will no matter what there will be no winners and the cost of conflicts will kill us all, we could save the world with all that military money that is spent world wide but we don't have the right people in power.
I just feel for our kids as they are the ones who got to sort out this big mess, that's if they survive of course.
We don't need saving, we need to be saved from the people who are in control from the people who hold their finger on that button and it only takes one mistake to start it.
I probably stirred the pot up now but something has to change and wars are not the answer and being Anzac day to remember those we lost to conflicts it makes one think of all we lost and where did it get us, f#*king nowhere.
I will say no more.

I think your comments are very substantiated and most will entirely agree...the reason I've put up this post is to show how people are being sleep walked into another war ...and I will later show the disinformation that the media is feeding most people

Russian Airpower Over Ukraine Increasing + More Shortcomings Appear Ahead Ukrainian Offensive

Update on conflict in Ukraine for April 24, 2023:

Most of Bakhmut is now under Russian control;

Ukraine & Western media report increasing use of precision-guided bombs by Russian military aviation;

Russian bombing is increasingly effective owed to dwindling Ukrainian air defenses;

Recent Ukraine Contact Group in Germany admit air defenses in Ukraine are a priority, fail to commit to any possible solution;

US announces acceleration of its shipments of 31 M1-Abram tanks to Ukraine after a 10 week training course, less than half the training an entry-level US tank crew receives;

Despite growing doubts of a Ukrainian offensive, it will likely unfold and may even have success in taking territory but will leave Ukraine at a further disadvantage in what is otherwise a war of attrition;

Ukraine faces critical shortages in arms, ammunition, & trained manpower;

US claims sanctions against Russia are “working,” yet data to substantiate that claim appears deliberately cherry-picked and taken out of context;

'Huge biological risk' after Sudan fighters occupy lab: WHO

The World Health Organization warned Tuesday that fighters in conflict-ravaged Sudan had occupied a central public laboratory holding samples of diseases including polio and measles, creating an “extremely, extremely dangerous” situation.
“There is a huge biological risk associated with the occupation of the central public health lab… by one of the fighting parties,” Nima Saeed Abid, the WHO’s representative in Sudan, told reporters in Geneva via video-link.

UK sends military team as it weighs evacuation options

A small British military reconnaissance team is in Sudan to consider evacuation options, as pressure builds on the government to rescue more UK nationals.

Defence minister James Heappey confirmed troops are there - but no evacuation plan has yet been announced.
On Sunday, the UK airlifted diplomats and their families out of Sudan in a military operation.
But thousands of UK passport holders remain in the country, where hundreds have died amid street gun battles.

So much for that...🤔

Shane.

I’m guessing that you will run this thread until you get it closed by the moderator. Hope that doesn’t happen, at least before you explain its meaning?

On a day of remembrance where you and I live, you have initiated a World War 3 thread based on what is essentially a localised conflict.

I genuinely want to understand - please explain.

Regards.
