Great sounding bike!

Are you sure that cap is ACU gold approved? ;) A full-face helmet would have hidden that broad grin though!

I've just replaced the rocker feed pipe which the PO cut with pliers  with a 'standard' assembly from RGM, and it's got black tubing (which is available seperately, and pretty inexpensive). The tubing seems very stiff and resilient.
I wasn't keen on the stainless set-up because of the piggy-back single banjos and long bolt needed for the dual pipe connection - unless someone knows of a stainless set-up which retains the original style of dual-feed banjo?

I think they are the original pipes, I certainly aint changed them and the PO before me didnt, leaves the original owner who may have altered them in 72-73, yep stainless I'd go for but for the price!

John you're a saint give me a call when you have a min please.

Heck yeah can't but help smiling, still grinning now even after the oil pipe letting go. :D

I don't think they ever used clear pipe? The original pipe was normally black.

Looking at the photo the failure looks more like the tube at sometime has been folded over causing material stress not a true burst. I've never had a problem with nylon tube feeds. However, on a brighter note, looks like you've got good oil pressure. :D

I've just ordered one of the Venhill braided lines for my MKII. The stock black hose is leaking at the right side head joint. I can't tell if it's the hose or the junction that leaks, but I've replaced the sealing washers and it's still spewing so I assume the hose is at fault. A failure there would be a real mess and if you're far from home you're screwed. I just returned from a 450 mile trip, watching that connection with great fear the whole time.

It's interesting to note that oil leaking from that fitting finds its way between the head fins and even to the exhaust collar when moving. There are some funky air flow patterns around a Commando head I guess.

You can always drill the intake rocker shafts, use a single line from the timing case to the head and plug up the other side.

I have had this happen to me before, now when doing a new project I generally take the old unions down to a commercial hose shop and they fit braided stainless hose for me for about US$15.

I've had a stainless oil line on mine for the last several years. One word of caution, with the engine vibration, the stainless braid can act like a hack saw on you gas (petro) tank. Make sure to use some type of padding. Also cuts through high tension spark plug leads.
