O.K. , only ' issues , far as Id think , would be if the main bearings arnt ' superblends ' / Barrel Rollers .
Bearing lecture . Crank whips , Ball Races screw out . Dunstall Heavy Duty Ball Races , Crank DOESNT Whip .It Breaks .
Barreled Bearings allow for the crank whip . Two or Three times the Price of a Ball race though .
Cant see anyone would fit Ball races . If you never went over 6000 , theyd probly be O.K. .
Piston Lecture . Early pistons had ' Slotted Skirts ' behind the oil control ring , rather than drillings .
The Skirt can fall off . If you never went over 6.000 , theyd probly be O.K. .
However , After the Royal Oilfield Interceptor Series III , it was the First ' Super Bike ' . So they say .
Obviously forgetting Brough's , Vincents and a few others .
HOWEVER , they are expexted to cruise at 100 mph , or thereabouts . If ' as good as new ' Mechanically.
With the above recognised ' BETTER ' than new , is the applicable term .
The odd sod regards 7.500 as a ' intermitant ' red line , 7.000 ' continuous ' as in hitting 7.500 in 2nd or 3rd
isnt dangerous , HOLDING 7.500 IS dangerous . This is more the likes of Dunstall & Comrades.
The point being , it should wind out to around 7.000 in TOP , and hold it , thereabouts , Even needing throttle Backing Off ,
So as to NOT EXCEED 7.000 , ( downhills , tailwind , drafting )
If a shop ' knows there stuff ' , the answer should be ' yea , o.k.' , asking regarding seeing it does it .
Now this may be being demanding . but it pays to be . Theres something not right if it wont .
If Theyre saying its ' A.1 .' cond. It will comfortably , without drama .But dont do it in traffic .
