Who runs their Commando between 7998 and 8022 rpm?

If I won the lotery which I hardly ever play or get settlement of pending Federal tort case I'll follow up on my planetary gear crank and 'rod' arrangement that leaves the center of flywheel completely surrounded by a steel ring of teeth so no bearings even needed nor a wrist pin as rod and piston could be one piece. The rod/journal area would be half again heavier that ours but it'd be close to center of rotation axis so more part of the rotating mass than the oscillating. I'd want to rev over 10K and see what it feels like good or bad.

" Surely you mean being as accurate as ever, " or is that opinionated as ever .

" It means that if you look at things one at a time, you might not realize that a branch of separate "trees" go togehter to make a "forest" "
or the olde chinese , start at the end . if you start at the beginning , you might end up somewhere else .

you might end up somewhere else .

Most of us suspect that you are already there, Matt ??!!

And someone who assembles a forest of ideas, some of which are demonstrably wrong, can come to some seriously wrong conclusions ?
It would be wrong of us not to point these out, n'est pa ??

But the greying masses are incapeable of understanding outside their confined dogma of logic . N'est-ce pas .

Comprehenshion off more refined ideals isnt much a part of their comprehenshion . Therefore , if theyve never seen a
White Duck ,
Who runs their Commando between 7998 and 8022 rpm?

They think all Ducks are RED . ( or other fancy colours )
Who runs their Commando between 7998 and 8022 rpm?

The manufacturers therefore haveing this covered , put a bit of red on the White Duck , so people can grasp it is actually a Duck

Unfortunately , the current Generation of motorcyclists arnt engineers , and have been brought up on Japanese Motorcycles .
Designed for mass production methods of manufacture . Rather than fabricated by human hands , as traditional British
Motorcycles were . . .

Therefore they think a machine designed for Japanese methods of mass production , with a smattering of vaugely british
apointments of configuration . Is a ' Traditional ' English Design . Which it in no way resembles in details of construction .

To the point where a Certain British type manufactured originally by a ENGINEERING manufacturer , and regarded as of the highest quality , is being missaligned as ' unreliable ' , in its traditional form .

Their delusions are as that of a teenager learning how not to wreck a machine by ' learing ' his craft on it * .

Either there were a lot of useless mechanics / service departments about , or its libleous rewriteing of history . ?

* Nowadays , there still a few capeable of improveing the mass produced consumer vehicals , by TRADITIONAL Methods .
No Less .
If you had to many two year olds at it , the current craft will attracked a romour of unreliablity .
As no doubt most of them will be , after say six owners and years of missuse & neglect .

The overall consistancy of manufacture may well be improved , but few of the engines with mild modifications
would be capeable of captureing the current world land speed motocycle record .

Therefore in my books theyre INFERIOR , cheaply made , & inadequate as produced .
Note the market of ' hot up ' gear to ' Race Spec ' , for all the current Super Sports .

Silver & Blue Dukes , like Manxes , came ready for the hands of a skilled fitter to hone and refine there operation ,
as did the better tuners of the era , by spending countless hours fitting & refineing .

If the wallopers want to design some old barge thatll sell to the masses in the millions , thats where theyre at .
If they wanted to produce " The Worlds Best Motorcycle " they would have to be of superior conception & Construction .

Not designed to be churned out for the taseless masses .

The tacky features aquaintaces were so fond of pointing out on the Jap mass market wobblers ,
seem to be standard features of the current ' Retro ' British machines . or is that ' bikes ' .

So by the same tooth , these same people would be offended by the same tacky construction on Any Machine .

Its noteable that the period ' Hot Shit ' , like a TZ , emulated british chassis construction .
Others like Suzingame's were so appaling in the chassis originally , all the aces fitted NORTON Road Holders ,
Oldani & Fontana Brakes , & the Like .
Phil Reads & John Coopers ' Yamahas ' were ' YAMSELS ' , seely Chassis .

If somethings a glittery display of modern tooling capeability , some may be impressed .
Id be impressed by straightforward Engineering Logic for the task at hand .
Not being one of the tasteless masses or a glamour boy .

Note the current Triples are more related to our ' Challenge ' Twin , in many ways .
Than anything passing itself off as a historic predecessor .

Not Understanding the Commando as a geneological offsping of a International ( any one else does ? )
would mean they havent percevied the strain of ancestry .

Id prefer a 48 Camshaft Norton , produced on modern tooling from modern materials to anything on offer currently .
Not to say I dont consider a more effecient design couldnt be evolved .
But makeing something appear as some predecessor doesnt necessarilly give it the Heart of that Predecessor .
Evolveing a less Complicated , more durable , doubley capeable one would .

So in my books , theyve missed the Boat .
Haveing been in possition where the first lightening was there , the Third There , 7 the second , Im not to sure . But it was Close .

Thunder of Lightning as applyed in definition to current itterations would only apply as seen of television .

Would you wear it ? 8)   It apears somewhat pathetic in comparison to their forebears .

Even if 99.99 % of the people wouldnt know HOW to put one Together . Let alone RIGHT .

so hats off to the forum ,for the opertunity for all to see how to put a Commando together as it should be in the first place ,
and the opertunity to ' discuss ' improvement of operatio for said MACHINE .
we dont have to live in each others pockets , turkeys getting into mine empty them.
The ENDS define the Means . They havnt Got There Yet . I will drop in from time to time .
but ' prgress ' really ? by What Means . From here theyre still a million miles off on a tangent .
If they churned out an Improved Norvin , where the effort had been meatallurgical ,
and materials substantially so . It Stands the Capeability has potential for vast vast benefits .

As Ive said before , Anybody noted as recogniseing The BRITTEN as the Evolution of the Vincent that for decades the purists whined for. What Happened , did they all drop dead , or did the recogniteive capeablities wither . Or were they ' elsewhere '.
Crikey . Stand Alone .
and up Yrs to those lost in the woods . Mate : and a good Day to you , Too .

Dommie = vertical cylinders

Commando = cylinders canted forward

...not the same.

That's like saying a '68 Chevelle used the same wheels and steering wheel as the Camaro, so they're very much alike!

So if your wife lays down in bed so she is horizontal and not vertical like she was when you walked her to the altar, then she is no longer your wife! Brilliant......

Yeah, let's don't even get started on the isolastic engine mounting, frame design and/or primary chaincase. They're so nearly identical as to be exactly the same.
