title says it all. i was told to mount it where the old rectifier came off. seems like the ventilation/cooling would be lacking there. i was going to mount it on a piece of heavy angle bolted to the rear of the battery box but before i go about reinventing the wheel i'd figure i'd ask. thanx, rick

oops! one of these days i'll search the forum before i ask. search brought up some good ideas. thanx anyway, rick

FWIW, I have a Sparx three-phase alternator on my Commando, and an EnduraLast 450W on an old Beemer airhead. I've checked, and the regulators don't put out enough heat to get concerned about (and yes, the systems are working fine).

i wound up mounting it right where the old rectifier came off. it slipped right in but for now i've only got it mounted w/ one bolt. there's a bolt head interference there but the bottom of the podronics has a hollow space that almost clears. this winter i'll mount a plate w/countersink and use that bolt to mount it. i'll drill and tap the plate to mount the podtronics. getting close to firing it up.

here's my solution: mind you, the bike was trashed and after installing an e-bay battery tray, I knew I was re-wiring the whole bike anyway , so this solved a variety of problems for me: It also allowed me to add a 4 fuse block on the back side of this plate:

looks pretty good and makes the battery compartment much more weather-proof.....

I stole the idea from 71basketcase and did a very similar thing on mine except the plate wraps around a bit further and I moved the battery right to the back. My ignition switch sticks out of the left side and I mounted the podtonics on the right under the oil tank. There is also a fuse box and a relay for the horn behind the plate. I found I could get rid of quite a bit of extra wiring by having everything in the same place.

you can't see it from this perspective, but the plate wraps right around the battery compartment : makes a nice clean look too IMHO
