my Triton has a 1960 slimline frame from a twin (apparently because of the front engine mounting points) but is it possible to determine what it originally came out of the factory as?

Frame number R1489257.
What was this frame originally?

It got there from an exploding star.
I prefer the creation story, personally. It also explains so many things that scientists keep guessing about, then changing their minds every day to "scientists NOW believe..."

One side "believes" and is unchanging, the other side "believes", but changes daily. pretty wishy-washy, that...

This might need to get moved to "off topic"...

I prefer the creation narrative. Both sides are describing the same events but one side is desperately trying to eliminate God from the equation. The big bang is still something from nothing and as the great Reverend Billy Preston once sang "nothin' from nothin' leaves nothin.' Or something like that!

1959 Model 99 according to the chart.

The "R" is the 1959 Prefix.
Close Paul, but no cigar. According to the chart, R and the 5 digits is 1960 model 99.

But above all, many thanks to Triton Thrasher for giving me definitive answers to what it once was.

Right you are. I originally typed 1959, thinking the stamping was a "P", then went back and saw the letter prefix (I had only been looking at the serial number). I wondered why they seemed in conflict. I "changed it", but didn't change the year.

When you look at theories of very high speed, very small scale and very long ago, they are no less strange than “God.”

The people who get closest to understanding relativity, quantum theory and the big bang do not sneer at religion.

Or as Kristopherson said .....
"Nothins worth nothing, but it's free",

Or sumpin' like Dat!

I think it was a two tone Dommy and very possibly a DL as they were often stripped down as not popular. A close up side view of the frame will give me more clues.

Here’s a couple of side views. Stripped obviously.
