Hi can anyone tell me what this clip is and what it holds in place please? I found it at the bottom of one of the side covers when stripping my '74 Mk2 for restoration. Thanks

I think that clip locates an oil line from the oil tank.

Edit:
On further review it may be a clip that helps secure the nylon oil line to the cylinder head.

probably should be shown on group 18 pix of IPL... but is not
Looks like the clip that mounts on the right side of the head steady to guide the nylon line that oils the rockers.
helps to prevent chaffing of line on bottom of tank.
often removed when persons degrade their bike by substituting stainless braided line

LAB you beat me to the submit button

2-LAB what is the source of the engine pix? MKIII style engine support spring YET analog voltage alternator light canister... If early MKIII it is an early one?? before the solid state control...I see the "T" in the carb balance tube.

I suppose that the rubber grommet is part of the oil line assembly then.
I respect those that keep or restore their bikes to the original standard, but it's so easy to not replace these small bits when rebuilding.

As far as I am aware, it's either a factory or press photo of an early Mk3 so has the silver can 3AW assimilator (and early version Mk3 harness) and also has the early style Mk3 curved rear brake pedal.

Dave,
FWIW my MKIII had a can assimilator and it was mounted by the coils. It also had correctly numbered instruments with all black faces and no logs of any type.

Is it important to have the first banjo of the oil feed pipe on the timing side ?

Thanks for the replies and the information on the rocker oil line clip. Would have been nice to put the clip and rocker oil line together in the one picture. I looked ALL through the Andover Norton parts pics on their website and was not able to find the clip. I still don't know what category it is under. I thought it would have been under frame or lubrication section - but no.

Thanks again.

Don

BTW Thanks for the Part No.

Thanks Les for the pics and the links to this part and the reference to the MK3 Parts Book.

Eddie good idea on the front brake line being retained the same way. I will keep it in mind when I get to reassembling my bike.

Cheers
Don

Aha! Solves a mystery for me as well. Was wondering what the grommet was for when I replaced my rocker feeds. No grommet on the old or spring.
