What fell off your norton today?

Actually, the only part I ever 'lost' on either my current Commando or the one I owned back when they actually made Norton Commandos was a rear blinker light on my current one. I didn't really lose it since I discovered it hanging from its electrical wire when I pulled into a gas station. OTOH, My 2014 BMW R9T cannot make the claim of never losing parts... ;)
Hehe just happened to me this morning.

The earth wire broke but the feed, unbelievably, did not. The bracket has broken due to fatigue. PITA.

Mine makes my wallet shed $$$$$$ money every day I own it o_O Today it's NYC Norton fork bushings...

Never lost any parts, but I did blow a muffler of my 63 Enfield Interceptor once
 
The only thing that ever came off my Atlas in nearly 60 years, or was actually soundly ejected, was the internal gears of the tacho gearbox .... never to be found.
It seems this has happened to others, there was a thread on this issue. I do not think it will ever happen again after the mod I made. See Reply #35

While it did not fall off, my main lighting switch did fall apart from vibration, causing me to sleep the night on Interstate 70. See Reply #36

Not today but a number of not essential nuts and bolts over half a century.
The seat on a slimline 99.
Easily found.
Speaking of seats , young and poor , both hold down tabs for the seat were in bad shape.
Approaching a known hump-bump on the Gardiner at Humber River I stood up a bit on the pegs in anticipation .
After the bump ... lowered my butt down and onto the frame.
Pulled over and walked back to grab the seat.

I used to have hurricane bodywork on on my t140
The seat was just a push fit onto some velcro
I used to ride sitting sideways on my bike past my work mates that were waiting at the bus stop
Showing off and playing to the crowd/captive audience
Until one day the seat came up when my foot caught it!
I ended up standing on the footrests with the seat now on its side jammed up my arse
I had to wobble to a halt and jump off the bike,just about held it up !!
That was the last time I did that stunt
 
The new to me Mk III Saga continues.......Yesterday while out on the Cdo....... On the way home, thankfully, it started hesitating on throttle as if low on fuel. The tank was almost full. Next symptom it started skipping and popping. Well, I nursed 'er home. Skipping (pun intended) to the end, the yellow wire was broken on the Pazon pick up coil terminal. I will put this failure square on whomever installed said Pazon unit. After consulting the Pazon manual, which the PO supplied me with the bike. I see there is supposed to be a ty wrap installed to support the two sensor wires in a sleeve. Well, all that was MIA just the two wires flopping around unsupported! So I redid it all with the wires in a sleeve and ty wraped to the plate, as per the Pazon instructions, and I added a dollup of RTV cream to support the tiny wires at the screw terminal block. Sometimes reading the "destructions" is important. Now onward to the next Cdo crisis.

I think I need to start refurbishing my ancient motorcycle trailer. Or kill a chicken or something. Just in Case.

So, my brother's real name is Mike G., and when I was fresh out of uni and he was in uni we were riding around one night at a good clip about town. Me on my C'do and he had a Suzuki GS450ST with a Kerker header. As he was riding in front of me, he accelerated hard and blew the core out of the rear of the header as it was held in by a screw. It wizzed right by my head. We stopped, picked it up, and carried on.

I guess Franko lost drain plug 064188, not the filter body / plug 067676. While I have seen the latter safety-wired, the need to safety-wire the smaller plug escaped me - until now!

This week...
Two litres of spare gas in a Coke bottle (yeah, I know..) somewhere between Copacabana and the San Pablo de Tiquina ferry, Bolivia..

Understatement off the year.
More epic miles on a Commando in the last five years than many have done in forty.

Hope the RTW is going well. :)
 
Last year on my way back from the O.N.O. Lavigne rally I dropped out a jet assembly leaving North Bay. Every 20 or so minutes had to pull over to swap sooty failing plugs which worked to get us to Beaverton to find the trouble. Unscrewed the drain plug on the bad side and the jet fell out with the plug.
Yesterday my buddy Ron showed up with the same drop out issue and he removed the bowl to find a very loose jet too. Tightened up with good plugs and ready to go again.
After 10 days down I found my latest problem . Cheapo Chinese battery.
 
My 61 Bonnie , any japanese part ( tail light / lens , foot rests , etc ) fell off if they wernt tightened every week .
Finally after Id replaced them all , tail light lense last of all , mostly they stayed put . The late side stand was dangerous on it ,
so it was probably just as well that fell off . If whoever found it just north of Puhoi bridge wondered how it got there ,
Now they know . Had High SS pipes on the left , steady rain . The Nylon Sock melted through but the steaming water keept the
leg cool enough so it was just bright red there . Tho continually you stuck it further out in the real rain & soaked cooling jeans .
 
my first bigger bike, a 500 cc Tribsa, (pre unit Triumph dynamo engine) was built from a kit of bits in time for first visit to the IOM TT in 1977. While on the island, realised the tin dynamo end cap had gone missing.
Next day, went to watch from a new place ( fast left hander about a mile before Ramsey) behind a stone wall, and there it was on the wall.....
 
I think that for me, except for the odd rubber foot pegs a while back, my nerves fell off on my last ride to work, about 2 weeks ago (120 miles round trip). I still haven't quite found them just yet.
 
Things falling off is not always a bad thing........as the late great Colin Chapman use to say 'add lightness'
 
I was rolling my bike into the chock that I park the rear tire into and cracked the rear light lens on my camper. The chock had moved back a little too much, and when I pulled it into the chock I heard a crack...Got a buddy of mine sending me a new one next week. PIssed I was at myself when it happened.

It happens a lot. Same on T140s etc. I’ve got through a few over the years !
