What fell off your norton today?

hahah, this is a funny thread already.

Lost a license plate once in a cornfield years ago. Still waiting to see it nailed to a telephone pole.

The parts that fall off this motorcycle are of the highest British manufacture.
Mine's off the road with prince of darkness issues mid summer.

Noticed yesterday that the right hand welch plug on the swing arm had fell out. Bike is a Mkiii version btw. So I did the right thing and soaked some first aid gauze in some 90 wt. and poked all I could into the swing arm spindle inside the swing arm. Found in my junk box, a 1" (measures 1 1/4") knock out plug that fit perfectly. I lathered up the plug with some rtv cream and installed. Checked the left side and it is still in place, it really can't fall out due to the frame.
Cheers

Dust. It has been sleeping since I started building its new home in a new garage/workshop.

That's its new home on the right. It still sleeps at my shop in my place of business. I am being evicted, but they will continue to pay me to stay away.

Slick

I've lost a perfectly good cell phone while riding my Commando. Departed from its belt mount on the highway. Spent a few hours searching for it as the sunset. No joy.

@swooshdave has a video capturing parts actually in the act of falling off his bike while riding.

I've suggested he start a likely profitable business following Commando's about while viddy-recording for successful parts recovery.

I have fallen off twice.

Best.
Yep I can relate to that
I've been knocked off my commando once and I crashed and came off once
I have never lost anything off any commando I have owned
Now triumph and BSA twins and singles is a different story

I "lost" the auxiliary power socket plug twice, it happend after bike meetings with other Nortons, it is a bit anoying. Since then I remove the plug before going to bike meetings. BTW it costs about 18 GBP.

If things fall off and the bike still works then actually you’ve simply reduced weight by shedding unnecessary detritus !
I think that's what happened to my center stand/indicators/choke slides/chain guard/grab rail etc in the past :D :D ;)

Actually, the only part I ever 'lost' on either my current Commando or the one I owned back when they actually made Norton Commandos was a rear blinker light on my current one. I didn't really lose it since I discovered it hanging from its electrical wire when I pulled into a gas station. OTOH, My 2014 BMW R9T cannot make the claim of never losing parts... ;)

3 of the 4 screws holding the tops on the carburetors - still ran but the carbs wouldn’t stay in tune…. Felt like a complete dolt when I looked up under the tank to see the tops flopping about lol

Sorry to dilute this post but I once lost the gear lever off my A65
I felt it go but it was at night on a dual carriageway and I was in fourth so I had the dilemma of walking back looking for it or riding back locked in fourth
I looked back and could see it shining in the road as cars went by so I shut the bike down and ran back
But at that point a car drove over it sending it flying
Eventually I found it and booted it back on !

I had the same thing with the B44, alas at 3am in snow! I was in third and the bike stalled, direct lighting so no see bugger all (no street lights, either).. Three mile push home.

But... Commando related, lost the rear master cylinder cap from my 'new' 13mm AN replacement, nasty waxed hardboard 'sealing' ring was the guilty party I guess, so now back with rubber :)

Better the tops than te whole carb! Had the port side carb about to let go after one of hte socket head bolts intake to head had gone AWAL and the other bolt coming adrift. Was the reason bike refused to accelerate when I turned the noisy bar grip thingie...only running on one cylinder.
