what are these parts - ???

I have these four brackets in the boxes of parts that came with my 74 Mk2. have no idea, but if I had to guess, i'd say they are for the rear grab bar. right, wrong, ???....

Grab rail mounts. They should be covered with black plastic, like heavy heat shrink.

AN is showing them with captive nuts, not sure when that appeared.

My 74 MK2 grab rail mounts with carriage bolts and a washer/nut from underneath.

The original grab rail mounts I have will lose the rubber/plastic coating near the nuts and then look lousy . Stainless are available.

since my original grab bar was MIA, bought new and had the mounting option. saw some grab bar mounting kits on fleabay for $40 or so, but ended up getting some vibration dampening, vinyl coated, loop clamps from McMaster-Carr (P/N 8863T78 -- 10 clamps for $4.66 (+shipping)). bought 1/4-20X.75 stainless bolts w/ locknuts for installation. bottom line - as far as i'm concerned, looks good and works for me. used a fifth clamp to mount a stop for the side-stand on the 74. the clamp along with an old muffler iso mount kicks the end of the side-stand out far enough that I can catch the end with my foot without getting off the bike. all this leaves me 5 remaining clamps for the next commando -

thanks for the comments. here's a bird's eye pic showing just how far the bumper kicks out the side stand. fairly easy to grab the end with your foot while sitting on the bike...

the second thing - when you go to store the side stand in it's home position, you can just let it swing back under spring pressure. since it's rubber bumper to rubber bumper, you'll get a nice soft "thump" that doesn't reverberate back through the bike. besides, great way to recycle one of those old iso muffler mounts.
