I ordered some parts for another project from Andover Norton. They promptly got it out the door like lightning,... but America's most lazy, incompetent, morons couldn't read a zip code well enough to get me my parts... My parts got within 8 miles of my post office, delivered to a neighboring town's post office in my state (washington state on the west coast) and as a corrective measure for delivering my package to my neighboring town, that town decided my parts needed to go to Jersey City, New Jersey for some strange reason.

Postal worker #1: "OH look this package is supposed to go to the next town over from us. Lets send it 3,000 miles away to New Jersey!!!!"

Postal worker #2: Duh, We're getting new jerseys??

Postal worker #1: Hey, Pass me that, Don't bogart the crack pipe dude!

From what my local post office dude tells me the sorting facility can't keep employees. They hire them, they get their first few paychecks then they quit. I miss Fred and Ella.... 🙁

Another UPS story: driver got to the end of my lane and decided he was not allowed to drive down it because according to the sign his van was too heavy. 150 yards from my dwelling. He took it back. Day two is skipped for some reason and he does the same no delivery on day 3. I call UPS help line and get some offshore babe who actually listens and tells me she will call the local depot and sort it. I am doubtful but indeed she gets them to ship to a nearby village drop point. Two more days and it happens. At last.
Now it gets better: another package delivery different vendor same deal. But they won't drop it because it has to be signed for. Like me signing at pickup point won't do. This time third try is lucky because the regular driver simply drives down the lane to my house and delivers.
We live in a world where everything is offshored except the employees who are recent arrivals on ourshores and are clueless. We have the Wonderful Globalists to thank for this.
Glad I am old and retired and won't be around much longer.

DHL, a nearly around the world parcel when it went the wrong way out of Leipzig and went to Perth Australia instead of Glasgow UK. But it did arrive, perversely it was a replacement for a parcel lost by Hermes on the last mile.

I've got a new one going on at the with royal mail
I had a notification saying my parcel had been delivered
When I got home it wasn't there
I checked my camera and nobody had been to my house
When I went on their tracking it stated that "receipent no longer able to accept parcels at this address so parcel returned to sender"
I've never seen a notification like this before?
I got in touch with the sender and it hasn't been returned as yet
I'm going to give it a few more days but I'm not hopeful at this stage
The worse one I had go missing was nos trident t160 primary chain , almost impossible to replace

missing was nos trident t160 primary chain

....which is why insurance is an expensive and cruel joke...

It really pissed me off
They traced it to the depot then it went missing
How many people would even know what the hell it was these days
Their can't be hordes of t160 riding postal employees on the look for them coming through the post so they could nick them
I lost a lot of money on the pay out

It's impossible to hire dedicated workers, when, instead the masses can sleep in, watch cartoons & smoke dope they bought with EBT dollars bestowed upon them for putting forth ZERO EFFORT.

The USPS is in the hole for $160 BILLION and has been a dumpster fire for many years.
It only continues to flounder.

In the above there are complaints about USPS, UPS, DHL, and the Royal Mail.

I live in a place where EVERYTHING has to be shipped from somewhere, where we are all relying on the services listed and others. When you consider the volume of material moved it becomes more remarkable that your stuff gets to you at all.

I go back and fourth on which service I prefer and have been lucky enough to have had a superb record of success- I can only recall a few times items have been lost. A few have suffered delays, to be sure. In my experience USPS has been the fastest and most reliable.

I don’t mean to be an apologist for any of the carriers and I understand and sympathize with the ire of “lost in transit”, but I do think it’s worth examining their success based on actual throughput- nobody complains of the mail successfully delivered. My utility bills always get through.

It’s entirely possible my good fortune with mail and shipping is because I live at the end of the supply chain: stuff bound for Alaska is probably less likely to be accidentally diverted to Kansas or Ohio.

Believe it or not I find RM to be pretty good. Better are the little services that seem to change their name every year and housewives
do the delivery work. Now that shops have mostly died off we are
stuck with Amazon ruling the planet. Prices go up and competition
fades.
Just know that soon you will own nothing and be happy.

I've had very little problem with commercialized or private carriers/shippers over the years. My gripe is specifically directed at the inept performance of the USPS...Concours noted the specifics.
Only a federal governing body could f%#@ up a straight forward business such a degree.

If the USPS charged what it's worth to JUNK MAILERS, it would soon right itself. Same cost as first class. Period.
In this digital age, a buck to mail a letter would make it profitable, and trim off the junk mail, unless someone really wants to reach you.
Done & done.

I get RM faster from the UK than from USPS priority. And the parts are cheaper from Andover by a LOT. And I don't pay VAT so it is often cheaper to get in the USA than the UK. Andover stuff seems to be on a rocket ship to me.

The USPS has been so bad lately. I have read up on it and it may be due to restructuring, the unions are not happy with it, trying to expand role of the distribution centers, if I read it right. Which incidentally is where my packages stall. They come cross-country and make it to about 25 miles from my place, to one of the big distro centers, and disappear. I have had 3 different packages of O-Rings with 'they will be delivered tomorrow' go AWOL in a month. It is maddening, my bike has been apart just to seal a leak with $3 O-rings. UPS hands off to USPS is especially bad, the tracking just says happily 'it's in transit' and every day they extend the delivery date. In the last month I have had to get an IRS distribution check cancelled/resent 2x, and the debacle of the O-Rings. I think they are softening us up for the election LOL.
