Beauty of a day. Partly cloudy 70ish. GO RIDE! Paid $4 a gallon for premium! Its only march. Ok...
Go for a spin around the lake. Pingin and detonating. They must a jacked the ethonal up or
something. Get ready guys, gas is gonna be high this summer and maxed out on ethanol. Im going to start putting octane booster in there. Keep a bottle in the side cover or something.
Glad im going to a steel tank after all to latest fiberglass threads.

They say gas in the $5's this summer in cali.
And, ...its gonna be crap.

Hmmm.... one about 3miles from the house. They skydive over there. Bet I could talk to them and buy from the diver guys.
I want to be able to run pump gas. Ill try the booster and see if that works. I could buy race gas localy, I love that Smell! Riminds me of saturday nights in the GTO in the 80's.

My local airport here in VA (Fauquier County) will sell avgas to anyone that comes in. I think they would put it in a car if you asked. BP LL110 out of a truck they keep there. It's about 20 miles from my location though. I took a couple of those new plastic 5 Gal jugs there and no questions asked. Just filled them up. It is a bit expensive, but for a M/C so what. Runs great. Seems to evaporate faster than gas station stuff.

Legally airports can't fill a car, no road tax. But they can and I have seen boats filled. And gas cans. I have used both race and avgas. The smell alone is worth it. Plus everything I used it in, including my lawn mower loved it. Cuting the grass never sounded and smelled so good.

Extra alcohol=oxidizer would make fuel lean on same jeting. Octane actually goes up with ethanol so don't know if boosting that would solve the booze in fuel running well. Main issue is dissolving fuel system and separating into water layer on bottom is stored long that does not burn and speeds up corrosion. Pure alochol is a fine fuel if system made for it, otherwise a political pay back scam.

Here's a plop in tank booster I've seen in HD catalogs.

There also catalysts in tanks that claim to convert low octane to higher enough to matter, and makes sense, but don't know if really does on not.

Rode it almost out and filled up somewhere else. $4.03. Ill see if it was just that station.

Gas wont get stale in my tank. Its rare that it goes more than a day without being ridden.
I go through a tank full (roadster) in a day or two. Some days two tanks. If im not working,
I'm riding. Rode in a hail storm yesterday. Wet leather... mmm.

Check out your local or regional hot rod clubs...many of them post the "good" gas stations. Although I'm not sure if ethanol free gas exists anywhere in CA?

Bet it cut it FAST!

There was a noticable increase in RPM. And the self propelled feature was harder to keep up with. But it ran out faster too. And got hotter, go figure,

There was an independent sampling of stations in Virginia a while back. They found everything from 10-30% ethanol. EFI cars and bikes can probably at least manage on it, but its another story for anything with a carb.

Oh my Chris, daily riding night day rain shine or hail and snow, all good when on a Commando, with big wind shield. I want that again please. Big hail injures so have to pull over a while. Still have my doubts its was ethanol giving you fits, but may have carried in something that did.

Ethanol free? Not that I know of. I usually buy gas from the major brand stations. This was an independant. Maybe they just sell crapier gas. Regadless, demand and environmental pressures are focing us to deal with it. I see steel tank prices rising. Ill take the tank rusting over fiberglass failing bonfire anyday. Filters will catch the rust. I am noticing my Carbs are starting to sweat. May be rebuilding them soon. Or not. Bikes running like a champ otherwise... Except for the mystery noise that is. Comes and goes. Driving me bonkers.

Alas even before booze put in pump gas there were plenty of stories of crappy running from a bad tank full so can't ignore that possibility.

4 $ an american gallon is a dream price !!! here in germany at the moment its 2,15 us for 1 litre thats roughly a quarter gallon !!! or for the good old times a half a flagon ! f-cken daylight robbery !!!!

You guys think you've got it bad... Petrol here in the UK is upto $9.00 a imperial gallon.. Diesel is even worse @ $9.30!!!!! And yes it is still Crap....

Think of it this way: It'd cost over $400 in gas to cross the U.S. ($4gal) getting 25mpg.....in the UK it'd be a bargain at $250 ($9imp) north to south.

Let's face it guys we are a dieing breed. If the greenies had thier way they would crush all our "old" bikes and cars. They would want us driving small cars that get 30+ MPG or even better eliminate gas and all fossil fuels and force us into little electric cars.

It might seem that way, but the reality is the opposite when it comes to crushing. Watch the documentary, "What happened to the Electric Car?". GM collected all the Saturn EVs and crushed them. Toyota did the same with their electric vehicles.

The Chevy Volt is way better than what they built before, don't despair, good things are coming down the road and the more they have of these vehicules out there, the better it will be for old vehicules because then they will stop using crops to fuel cars and use them to make food.
