My first crash, it sucks.

Sorry to hear about your spill bwolfie, hope you are OK and back on 2 wheels soon.
It appears, as from your post, that with non -use or age your calipers have seized up. They are a meaty pair from your pictures. Can’t take any chance with them at the front :!:

Are those the factory mount points for the calipers? Something just does not look right to me.

Top caliper mounts are unused :?:

This is a non stock brake setup I put on the bike a few years ago. My original caliper needed pistons, and I decided on a modern brake setup. Not many people have tried this, and for now I will be going back to the stock setup.

Glad your ok. Scary thinking of something like that. I was so fearless as a younger man but not so much anymore, I hate that saying that there is only "two types of riders, those that have crashed & bla bla bla. You know the saying. I learned a lot from a older gent in my neighborhood that had been riding & collecting bikes for around 60 years and he road accross this country (USA) several times a year & had lived and ridden in many other countries as a career military person who bought, road & shipped home bikes in every country they stuck him in. He went down once! Crossing a stream that was slimey and he was going to slow so his tires slipped in about two inches of water. He road hard, fast & for fun but he was safe and a trained mechanic so tried to keep things in good safe condition. At 70 something years old on a BMW 1000 & me on my Dunstallized 750 Commando he left me chasing his tale lights every time we road togeather. I loved it. He allways told me baring a unforseen mechanical problem like what happened to you or someone hitting you there is no reason why a guy/girl can't ride & never go down. Racing of coarse is a differant story, I guess it's necessary to be straddling the edge & you know what they say about hanging around at a barber shop, you might get your locks chopped! Hope you heal fast & it doesn't mess with your head when ridding. Glenn.

When you ride a solo bike it is inevitable, unless you ride within the conditions and your ability you are going to fall off-solo bike are totally unstable hold them upright and take away your hand- they fall over,
When I was younger with my first motorcycle, I took up judo just to learn how to fall, and believe me I don’t mean the Judo breakfalls. It stood me in good stead and I would recommend it.

Glad to hear you are OK Brent.
I started crashing motorcycles at age 12. The first one was could have been quite serious. About a week or two after seeing the Steve McQueen(actually done by Bud Ekins) jump in "the Great Escape", I got my first bike. It was a 1956 Norton 500 single ES2, with the new alloy head.

This was a powerful bike for a 12 year old kid who had only ridden his brothers Honda 90. I decided to recreate the Mcqueen jump by hitting a sloped rock in our great long pasture flat out. A friend was present, so why not put him on the back as well so that we could both fly?
I recall seeing 65 mph on the speedo just before liftoff. We did not go all that high, but did stay airborne for a 100 feet or so.
The landing went ok. In fact it all went so well that we had to try again, this time me solo, a bit faster, maybe 70 mph and lift off was much higher. I did not make the landing.
The bike wasnt hurt badly but I got pretty bashed up,couldnt ride for a couple of weeks.
Since then Ive had quite a few, especially dirt riding near or past my limits.
At one point, early on, I decided to practice crashing with an old Honda 90 in the dirt. I got quite adept at laying it down then sliding on top of it. When I went down in California on the Lost Coast Highway a couple of years ago,(giant pothole and too much speed) the old training kicked in and there were just a couple of scrapes on the bike, none on me.

Crashing on asphalt does tend to be much worse than in the dirt, and its toug to imagine how the roadracers manage to come away most often unscathed after come offs at 100 mph+

One should always arrange to crash lowside :) :)

I have only once ever crashed high side and got a broken pelvis out of it - now that smarts !!

Get well soon !

Well, it's just shy of 2 weeks since it happened. All is getting back to normal. Both hands are almost completely healed, Left knee is doing good. Just the scab on my right nee is bothering me and my ankle is sore. Another 2 weeks and I suspect all will be back to normal. Not sure the kickstarter will be ready that quickly.

The bike got it's new turnsignals yesterday. I still need to get the front brakes in order and new passenger pegs.

Forgot to put on rubber magnets on the boo's boo's did ya, oh well, hope ya don't snag a scab while mending, especially riding w/o padded palm gloves on.
