So, after the top end refreshing, I've finally got her running pretty decent after binning a failed sparx regulator (cannibalized my TR7 for its unit). I've discovered the "mysterious" oil splat on the head fins near the pushrod tunnels, and am thinking it's most likely coming from the studs as the gasket joint looks fine. Got her timed at 4K using the boyer timing curve provided at INOA (event at 4K she was dancing around like a drunk ballerina).
Running the jsmotorsport twin PWK kit, setup as per Jim's directions. At this point I've got her idling pretty smooth with a #38 pilot on the primary side and a #35 on the timing side, but the carb with the #35 is still slightly erratic... and I'm think it may be that the float on that carb is a c*nt hair too high.
Could that marginal height difference throw it out that much?
