Just a quick note that I've heard from Steve and he has sent me a new belt drive kit to replace the one I damaged.
He' been away (Thailand I believe?) and had just returned when I contacted him, but he had a PC crash which wiped out both his production and sales. so was a bit busy for a few days :)
All seems well now, so just waiting to see how the package comes through the system to me now, in these Post Brexit days. Going to be a bit more expensive and take longer, but there you are...

I never had any problem getting in touch with Steve, probably just sheer luck. He did some cylinder head work for me last November. I need some of his pushrods when I get around to working out the length.

It would be nice if he brought back a few manufactured items. I'd be game for the oil juncture block and lightweight crankshaft.
Or does someone else offer a lightweight crankshaft? Time to do a search........

They poor guy wants to retire.

I've been kicking myself for not buying an oil junction block when they were previously available. Cj

Well, I would have worked on it today but it was 114F. I have a general rule of not working in the garage when it’s over 100F.
114° ! Luckily we don’t get anywhere near that hot apart from yesterday when it was 50 in the morning and 64 in the afternoon

Yeah, Brits aren‘t designed for that heat. We just go BRIGHT pink and then get blind drunk cos of the excuse of there being nothing else for it but to drink cold beer to cool down…!

You must have traded in your Lucas refrigerator to have cold beer! ;) Great to hear that Steve is back. Any chance of more 5 speed gear box shells????

It’s was Dave Nourish that made those gearbox shells and I don’t think there’ll be any more of those coming.

Are those the ones with a couple of reinforcing webs cast in?

Steve generally is available over summer while he's in the UK, you just have to catch him before he heads 'back south' for winter!

The ones with reinforcement webs in were either Quaife shells, which haven’t been available for years, or shells made by Kenny Dreer, also not available for a long time. I sold a NOS Dreer shell only last year, there was no interest on here, so it went on eBay. I suppose there may have been others by the likes of Puma etc?

The Nourish shells I’m referring to were more popular in recent years, they were designed to take a 5 speed Triumph cluster and unit construction type inner and outer covers, and had Norton mounting points. It was a cheap way of getting a very good and robust 5 speed box in a Norton.

AFAIK the only only gearbox reinforcement upgrade Steve offered was the outrigger assembly.

My new belt drive kit was delivered today, sent on Monday from the UK. Damn good service, and best of all, I wasnt charged customs fees, VAT or even the document fee that covers the costs of all the paperwork. Thats a saving of damn near 100GBP

Seems one can still have good hair days!!!
