My Commando buddy and me just recently compared notes after a decade of those K/N type oiled fabric filters to realize that the grit they passed were the cause of our almost yearly smoke ring and blow by oil weep troubles from the accelerated bore and ring corner edge wear. Many use k/n type and likely best thing going for marine and aircraft use but I've sworn off em for pleated paper and my buddy will try the UNI foam wrap around his no longer so cute looking K/N filter to see if he can go more than 15,000 mile or 2 yrs without blowing smoke rings again. A google search of < accessnorton air filter > might find the thread that has a video of the crap those oil foam racing filter pass through. You call of course. Oh yeah and I also say kick em off wet sumped and keep rpm up for cam life.
Oil filters are about as useless as them leaky air filters too, only blocking passage clogging stuff but easy passing the wear size particles we find in sludge paddies. Look up bypass filters to further disturb one's peace of mind while riding so merrily along. One regular oil filter might last most a life time and not a bad idea to at least a fix a super-magnet on it besides the sump one.
If ya stay on civilized pavement and don't have to ride on ice grit dusted roads or in desert surrounding conditions, likely could just run open bells months and last a normal time. Size of filter matters a lot but Cdo don't have much room unless using the big ass air box which Norton got right as far as size and effective filtering with minimal resistance goes.
I have had those filters(screens) and they are not good. They came with a carb kit. Velocity stacks with the screen over them would look better, perform better, but neither will filter.
Although air is a Nortons best friend, it needs to be clean or you'll be smoking in no time.
Bit the bullet on this one.
Also, the Ebay item has a 32mm id flange. Amal needs at least 48mm.
