No Air Cleaners

Why do I keep seeing classic bikes without air cleaners?
It doesn't make sense to me that someone has spent lots of money and time restoring a classic, then don't fit air cleaners.

Why?

Probably a dumb question, but I've always wondered.

i have a dickens of a time tuning carbs without filters.

I will second the because :mrgreen: I ran my bike without a filter because it was too small and restricted airflow to the point the plugs were black with sooth all the time, without a filter, nice chocolate brown. (FYI it was a single Amal MK2 that came with a K&N filter)
