My Cdo dropped a cylinder. I pulled the plugs and cranked it over. On the LH, I can't see the intake valve opening like I can on the RH. Possibilities: broken rocker; broken pushrod; completely worn out cam. What else?

"Carry on, and dread nought"

I think your possibilities just about cover it! I'd say if it happened suddenly most likely the rocker but if it got worse and noisier over a period of time more likely the cam,
Dave.

Not much point guessing, the next logical step would be to remove the rocker covers and check what's moving, and/or what isn't moving?

I removed the rocker cover. The valve adjuster screw was backed out, just short of falling out of the rocker. Well, that's a relief! Any tips on setting the lash, beyond what the workshop manual says?

You're really lucky.
When I bought my CDO three years ago after it was in a garage since 1977 I discovered that a exhaust valve adjuster screw with nut had backed off completely and fallen down the tunnel onto the top of the cam followers.
I pulled the engine down because I needed to follow the damage.
Replaced the push rods and one side cam follower because they were too beat up.
The PO must have kept riding even though the valve adjustment going way out probably made a lot of rattling.

Little while back had a tappet adjuster sheer off at bottom of the rocker arm, so rocker itself was closing the valve to ride it back home. Fortunately once back, the sheered piece of the adjuster was still sat by the valve spring and got it out with a pair of tweezers.!!!!
