Ugliest seat in the free world

Hey all,
First off a big THANKS to DogT and GrandPaul for letting me collect some more parts for the 73' 850 Roadster!!! You guys are AWESOME.
Now the next big issue. This quite possibly the ugliest dang seat I have ever seen (OK maybe it was cool back in the 70's but I was BORN in 1970!). It is what came with the bike as a seat though. Anybody have a good useable/recoverable seat they would sell me? Old Britts gets like $400 for a 1973 Roadster seat!!! My wife would shit the bed if she found out how much a seat costs new....therefore I am looking for a (preferrably) slighty tattered seat or a seat pan with decent foam that I can recover.

you could prob hock that on ebay and use the money towards a seat- close to even trade. I sold my original seat for $150.

That seat is so bad it could go for a good amount

Oh, Travis, here's a couple shots of your airbox bits. Nice chrome, has the intake baffle system still intact, and rubber booties & decent filter element.





Sorry, I didn't have the 2 bolts & nuts for it.

I have a decent Mark III seat, let me get you pix and you can make an offer.

Once again AWESOME! I didnt think a Mark III seat would fit on a 73' pre Mark III but then again, I am still learning...shoot me some pics and I will dig up some cash.

I think you'll need to fabricate a different mount with the proper spacing to put the seat in int's place behind the tank without a big gap.

I'll bet you find a deal on the right seat in no time at all. Don't get in a hurry, it can end up costing you more in the end.

The intake boot on the airbox are in great shape.

This is the bottom of a Mark III seat on Ebay right now (new from UK). It is definately different than the Mark II seats and the earlier seats that mount on the upper shock towers with the knobs...

I have the Mark III mounting bracket that bolts to the frame, with hinge for the seat...

I was born in '57, and would never find that seat anything but butt ugly. Try and trim it down with a sawzall- it looks like you could make a nice little solo turtleback out of it all...
