TVS 961 RECALL....

Disconnect the clock , never put mine on the trickle charger now.
Hi Mak , Can you give some detail about how the clock only was disconnected ? I think you could take the batt + at the Speedo and connect to ignition + so the clocks don’t consume power when your key is off. Does the clock always read 12:00 or something like that ? And can you set the clock during that ride and it works only to go back to 12:00 when you power off. ? This is a good solution if I understand it correctly. !

While I was looking at my clutch I decided it was time for a cam chain check. Here is the cam lock tool I got from the Cootes when I was there. This makes the cam chain easier because you can leave the Primary side alone. I replaced the cam chain blocks with the latest TVS type and also replaced the chain. The original cam chain looked OK only 23K miles , so I will keep it as a spare.

Slightly more balanced view of the recall than from some of the doomsayers residing on the FB site!😁

He's clearly part of the auto 'media', I suspect we're all equal, but some are more equal than others... meanwhile I still have heard nothing from Norton about the collection of my bike... My goodwill toward Norton is quickly disappearing.

TVS 961 RECALL....
Hey Tony,

Were there any shavings or anything in the timing side to indicate any wear at all?

I had an email from Norton on 9th April telling me my 961 was going into production and the factory will keep me updated as the build progresses. I don't know what the time scale for a build is, but having heard nothing for six weeks I wondered whether the recall of all these machines had affected production of new bikes. So I rang Norton and they say not, but I should contact the dealer for information. So I did that, but they know nothing. Hmmm

Expensive way to fix the parasitic drain!! Tempted, though wiring might be a bit of a mare!
