TVS 961 RECALL....

You’ll be getting this letter Chris, if ya haven’t already - contact number included.

Worth a punt to try and get ahead in the loooooong queue!

TVS 961 RECALL....

I got the same letter today, just repeating what's on their website. I contacted them two weeks ago, had a reply next day and since I've heard nothing. In the meantime I see other owners having their bikes collected and returned this week, it hurts when the weather has been perfect for the last few weeks.

Received letter today for recall, I live in Scotland and I'm booked to got o the TT in 3 weeks so that looks like it's bolloxed, I like the bike but this is the last straw for me, at 50 it was either going to be a Ducati or a Norton then I heard the horror stories about the Donnington bikes so bought a Ducati in fact I've had 3 then traded my Diavel in for the Norton unfortunately it's turned out to be a big mistake .

Don’t give up .

Get in touch directly mate, explain the TT circumstance - others have done the same and had their recall expedited for the same reason.

I’ve little doubt that in the end you will grow to love your ‘big mistake’!

Concours - never miss an opportunity! 🤣

I will phone today I do like the bike it's absolutely beautiful to look at and riding is a pleasure, but this is the latest in a series of problems with the bike

I still haven't had a date either and its frustrating now. Especially with the weather. I keep calling them and keep getting told it will be soon but to no avail. Maybe they are prioritising the TT visitors, and to be honest that's fair enough. I've been to the IOM many times but not going this year, but I would happily have my bike on the second group if they put known TT visitors first and made that clear. Its the lack of communication that's so annoying. Right now I'd just rather have a firm date so I can get the service booked in. My dealer has cancelled my service now and won't re-book until the bike is fixed. That's going to add probably 5 weeks minimum to the end of whatever happens with the recall.

Spoke to receptionist and she said someone will call you this afternoon no call received. She did say they are taking about 5 days to turn round, so for me if bike not with them on Monday then I've no bike for TT, been in touch with a dealer to trade it in for something else waiting on a reply.

Based on my experience they are not prioritising owners taking their bike to the TT. I have emailed them 3 times telling them I was taking my bike to the TT, departing next Friday, and I have also spoken to them twice and they have told me they have passed my details to their collection agent but I have not heard anything further. Fortunately I have another bike to go on but I was looking forward to riding my 961 around the TT Course.

Same here, last email I sent was to give the details they requested.. that was on 30th April. Got the Recall letter last week. Just emailed them to ask when my bike will be collected.. we'll see if I get a reply tomorrow. Though I think the collection / fix is being done by a third party, so how much control Norton have over whose bikes get collected and when I don't know.

Nine pages deep and still going strong—gotta love this forum. But let’s all take a deep breath and remember: you’ve actually got a company that answers the phone and fixes stuff. That already puts you ahead of all the previous 961 owners. Yes, maybe the response time isn’t lightning-fast, but they’re not ghosting you either. TVS is still showing up, and eventually, they will get it all sorted. Probably not by carrier pigeon, but sorted nonetheless.

So before you decide your glass is half empty, think about the poor souls out there whose glass isn’t even on the table—no parts, no help, no hope. You’re waiting for a callback. They’re waiting for a miracle.

Last year my Ducati Supersport went back to the dealer 3 times while they tried to sort out a problem. Sure that is probably an exception whereas there seem to be a few remaining ingrained issues with the 961 but I still think it is an exceptional bike and not much else gives a riding experience like it. It is unfortunate that this was due to a manufacturing problem but unlike us 'Donny' owners you have the advantage of a proper manufacturing company supporting you. I hope you get the vibe back for it - since Stu sorted my problems out (Donnington bike issues) its reliable and I just love riding it.

One big advantage of these bikes is that they are relatively simple. Most issues seem to be around sensors and worst case you have a set ready to swap in which is relatively easy to do. My Ducati had an intermittent issue with one of its ECUs - big bucks main dealer and even they struggled. Can't even see how to get to the plugs to do a swap....

PS have to admit had to use the Ducati this morning as I forget to leave the Norton on trickle charge........

I have still heard nothing. They said they would try to turn my bike around in time for the TT but i still haven't had a date for colleton . No reply to last emails . Phone line rings out and the message box is full.
So guess it's a waiting game I hope they have a stall at the TT. I will set up a picket line until they give me some free merchandise

It would not have been hard to send out initial letters to the last known address with a rider inserted to say ignore if the bike is not longer registered at that address. Then follow once the DVLA had supplied the latest registered keepers address.
