Is anyone aware of any problems with the Norton replacement gearbox manufacturer? A few days ago they had an active website; then I was unable to access the website and now the site doesn't even show up when Googled.

That bit is very peculiar.
Anyone know offhand what has changed with google then - its throwing up all sorts of strange search results - results that it showed recently aren't even on the horizon anymore.

Can anyone ring TT to see what is going on ?
Rather than us speculate what might be....

Using an existing bookmark I simply got a 'can't find server' response, which normally means that the site owner has not paid the domain name fee....it is easily forgotten when running a small business...I know...

You could email Bruce Verdon, the boss .....use ttindustries@xtra.co.nz the email does not use the ttindustries.com domain so should not bounce.....I have always had good responses from Bruce.

There seems to be plenty of demand for the product, so I would not be over concerned just yet!

Hi, i am in the same situation.....had emailed to Bruce, a week ago, no answer, though he had given me a quotation in January , may be too much work ? or .........?

My email inquiry to buy one last week was not responded too either. Please call and mention there's easy money waiting.

Im sure Bruce will be away at the NZMCRR Festival meeting this weekend at Hampton Downs. And maybe he went to Phillip Island a couple of week back. So his e mails may be backed up. But he usually has someone at the factory answering phones. I talked with them about 4 weeks ago.

Talked to them 5 minutes ago. Phone is being answered by one of the staff because Bruce will be up at Hampton Downs.

They know the website is down and are working on it.

You've made me feel guilty, I still owe Bruce the old selector drum from my new gearbox. When I ordered the box I didn't specify that I wanted the norton direction change, and it came upside down. Because the box is longer, the problem can't be solved by simply crossing the linkage to the lever. I've been waiting for cool weather so I can get into my shed to work on it.

Alan what do you mean the 'box is longer'? Does something need to be modifed on a Commando to fit the TTI? Is the shifter shaft in a slightly different location? I think maybe a 5 sp with a good jump over 4th might satisfy the urge to snick up another one as the pull power still good but the rev's too high for cruise.

Spoke to Brett at TTI earlier today, (NZ time)Bruce is racing a Rocket 3 and a Manx this weekend at Hampton Downs just south of Auckland, is on his way there now.
Here is the link for those interested.

I have paid for a 5 speed , was supposed to be at my door this week, will see Bruce at the race meet, so hopefully will have an answer on delivery date, or posibbly in the back of his van!
He hasn't answered any of my enquiry emails since 31st Dec 2012

The total length of the 6 spee d TTI box is more than the standard 4 speed Commando box. It is probably only about 20mm, but enough t o make it diffiicult to route the linkage on a parallelogram gear shift. On most brtish bikes it is possible to reverse the direction of the gear change simply by mounting one lever the other way, and crossing the linkage . On my bike I had to obtain the correct selector drum or the levers and linkages and footrest would end up in a mess.

You might note where the cover plat e is located. If I turn the right hand lever upside down and reconnect the linkage the change direction can be reversed, however I'd e nd up with an ugly lever at the footrest which would tangle with my ankle. It's silly minor thing, but it means I have to fit the correct selector drum.

On a slimline featherbed it was pretty easy to reverse the gear change on the TT box by crossing the linkage.

Only a small bend in the linkage arm was needed. But you do need to remove the cross linkage before you can get the oil filler cover off.

Changing the selector drum on a TT Box will take you less than 1/2 hour if you have the clutch off the bike.

Thanks for the photo of the extra bulk sitcking out on shifter side Alan. That means I'll have to weld up a shifter pivot on AMC box then again when getting the TTI. I will try to make a factory kick lever work as crash cage would foul the fold up KS.

A slightly different application but I believe you could do it (see first pic, below). This works well for me and my Quaife is as wide as your 'box. I paid attention to the lever pivot points to get the right amount of lever effort and lever movement, and to the angle of the tie rod to clear the inspection cover and the shift pedal on upshifts. You could also make a rod with a kink to clear the cover.

A neater solution, on a Summerfield Manx (below). I am working on a similar arrangement.

Thanks for the advice . When I get a cool da y, I will change the selector drum. I might get out into the shed early one morning, but I don't like working on the bike under lights.

I just talked to Bruce at TTIndustries down here in Nelson, New Zealand. He isn't aware of any issues this end as far as contacting him on line or by phone. I had no problem phoning him up.
However there was a period recently when he was too busy to sleep let alone answer enquiries. So, he has now hired Megan to deal with enquiries.
If you are having problems with contacting them let me know and I will get hold of them for you.
6 speed box for Commando with kick start in aluminium is NZ $5,500.00. Ouch ! Add NZ $200.00 in magnesium.
