Hi All
you may or may not be aware that there are big changes for the Manx GP next year and beyond ....

the Classic part of the Manx GP is to be re-branded as the Classic TT and will have the top TT riders competing on classic bikes ... well almost classic .. most of them will be on pre 92 jap sports bikes ...

anyways ... one of the casualties in the draft regulations is the formula Classic race which is the pre 75 4 stroke event ... dont think i saw a commando entered but cant see why there would not be one ... Peter Williams and Tony Jefferies should have won quite a few TTs in the 70s if the gearbox didnt give up ... that problem has been solved now with modern clusters ...

so the problem ... I spoke with Paul Phillips who works for the Manx Govt and is responsible for the TT and Manx GP (Classic TT) ... his view was the class is just not well enough supported ... true to a certain extent ... this year only 11 entries, 9 starters and 4 finishers ... he emailed me this evening and agreed in principle to include the class but we need more entries ...

in 2013 the event will be televised in the UK , US, Europe, Canada, Australia and NZ so a lot more incentive to get sponsors and bikes entered ...

My post is purely to encourage any Norton race riders , race bike owners (experienced mountain circuit riders are available and keen to ride classics ) or sponsors who want to support a team to enter the Classic TT in 2013 and beyond ..

if anyone needs info or advice or anything in the way of help please feel free to contact me ... I've been there for the past two years with my BSA R3 and learned an awful lot about what it takes. I would truly love to see the trident/R3/Commando duels of the 70s back on the mountain ....

hope to hear from some of you soon

Steve
