Hi all,
Has anyone dealt with TTI in New Zealand. In early November I ordered & paid for a 5 speed 'box. I was told to expect delivery in 6 weeks. Since then I have heard nothing & my emails are not being replied to. Am I being paranoid. Anyone amongst you had similar problems?
Cheers,
Martyn.

Hi Martyn

Last time there was a delay Bruce was riding at the classic Manx :D Someone on Triplesonline dropped over to see what was happening.
Cant see there being a problem as Bruce is a stand up guy.
My friend got his offset gearbox sprocket a few months back.

Chris

Coming into race season here in NZ, classic races at Taupo first weekend in Feb and 3 day Classic Festival at Hampton Downs the following weekend. Plus NZ largely shuts down for 2 - 3 weeks over Christmas (mid summer). Will just be the mixture of all these i would expect, he has a very good name.

What Iain says. Bruce is good for it, for sure. He has an assistant now - Megan - who answers his email most of the time. So perhaps you should address it to her?

It is also possible Bruce is busy heading to Phillip Island for the Island Classic next weekend. I know fellow NZer Peter Lodge was coming at one time, so possibly several NZ folks are preparing.

I ordered-paid for Ms Peel's in April and received in November and was hung up in US customs a few weeks needed more numbers and verifications before released, then some screw ups by major delivery company. Apparently racing attendence world wide takes a good hunk of the staff away in intervals so may be a few of those in the way and of course custom orders take extra time-attention. So relax and plot and plan how its going to work out so well in the end.

Matchless, I had the same problem, box fully paid for in Dec 2012 , received the box in March 2013 after many unanswered emails .
Once I received the box , it was sent with the wrong shift pattern barrel, they did eventually send the correct one which I replaced my self.
You can contact him on his mobile and he has said , ring anytime, if i needed help, which I did and he was true to his word.
Try his mobile, it is 0812 HRS here at the time of this post
+64 (0) 21 444 931 (drop the 0 if ringing outside of NZ)
Regards Mike

I found Bruce very good to deal with. Give him a ring, he's got some real smarts about him. I think your problem is in coping with Christmas.

Thanks very much for all your replies. It has put my mind at rest. I do like to trust the people I deal with, & most classic motorcycle parts suppliers are very decent people. The paranoia comes from my very hard earned £2,700 being 12,000 miles away.
Thanks again & I will let you know when the gearbox arrives. ( I've yet to be fleeced by British customs)
Martyn.

TTI Norton line is likely a small side line compared to their other orders.

Hi, be sure you will recive it. Now Neil Ross is taking care on emails; Megan left the company. I was waiting more than 8 weeks for 3 gear boxes.

I received an email from Neil Ross this morning, in reply to my email sent on 6 January. He assures me my gearbox should be finished in a week or so. Fingers crossed. Standing by to be rogered by HMC.
Martyn.

Yes Bruce is reliable.

I'm home in NZ at the moment and have heard that he has had some problems with steel supply. Maybe this has caused a delay.

Basically some of the steel he was supplied for gears was not up to the spec defined and when they had it analysed it had too high carbon content.

He is the sort of guy who will be very concerned about that. His business plan is about making the best gearboxes you can buy.

The problem seems to be that you need to be very very sure of the source and quality control on supposedly high spec steel which has a documentation trail but who knows what can happen back down the line.

I wrote to him a few months ago to order a gearbox sprocket. No answer ever. I have been too busy
to attend to this and in the past found him slow to answer email. But I have found him to be honest.
Im in USA and be careful with customs, they want their bite and keep all your paper as I had a go
round with them, one hand knoweth not what the other does.

Hm, I was asked which two sprocket sizes to send with the tranny but it got sent out without any sprockets. I'd of ordered 17 and 23 just to feel what it was like.

Martyn.

We kneel for the Queen, but for HMC we bend over!
Really frustrating for small value items where the clearance fee doubles the cost of the item, and I can't remember the last time anything got through un-charged; they're really thorough these days, it seems :(

At least it'll make me hate you a bit less  - my Quaife took at least that long from Mick Hemmings a while back, and I had to return it due to being built in a Manx case

I have recent dealings with TT. I know they are tied up with consecutive race meetings at this time of year and hence won't be at Phillip Island.

I have had email correspondence just today with a Neil Ross (Ops Mgr) regarding a gearbox oil leak that I am trying to fix.

Any one else experienced oil leaking from TT boxes?

I lucked on to finally receive the drive sprockets after tranny arrived in late spring after a couple seasons of ordering. Niel has had his hands full catching up after the gal running things departed. Glad they are active race attendee's and orders flowing in to keep em around a long time. Maybe throw some black pepper in to seal the leak? ugh.

FYI, especially for those in Europe with deep pockets and fancy gearbox cravings...

Minovation carry some TTI boxes in stock it appears, when I asked recently, they said "We have 1x qty aluminium cased 'kick-start version' close ratio 5 speed gear box in stock, this has fitted the 'long' main shaft that a Commando engine requires. The cost is £2,600 + VAT + carriage".

Hi
Got my box from Martin at Minovation. They are a stock item.

Blue Paul
Mine has leaked from new. Just enough to let me know its gearbox oil not engine.
