Thread the nut back on, to protect the thread, and give it a good wallop with a block of wood, upwards of course.
May take a few good hits to move it, the stem can rust slightly into the bearing.
Make sure it doesn't leap out, and damage your tank or anything nearby, or itself onto the floor.

OK, fair enough. I know if I were to find myself faced with a similar situation I would instinctively reach for the manual, it's just the way I work, I suppose?
A paper copy manual kept close at hand can often be of more use than a few copied pages.
