Top Yoke Removal

You have wangled off the bottom yoke, and instruments ?
Thread the nut back on, to protect the thread, and give it a good wallop with a block of wood, upwards of course.
May take a few good hits to move it, the stem can rust slightly into the bearing.
Make sure it doesn't leap out, and damage your tank or anything nearby, or itself onto the floor.

I did read the manual...I copied the pages on fork removal - Section G3. There is nothing about moving the tube to the side in the front fork removal section. I didn't look at "Renewing Steering Head Bearings" because that is not what I was doing...

I know if I were to find myself faced with a similar situation I would instinctively reach for the manual, it's just the way I work, I suppose? A paper copy manual kept close at hand can often be of more use than a few copied pages.

I really wasn't that stumped, came in for a break when I posted that question...had the manual there but figured someone would answer...probably lazy on my part but when I looked down the hole after I got the top yoke off the tube was lined up perfectly with the bearing and it looked like no way out...simple problem...but I didn't know. I put a screwdriver in there and the tube didn't move. Sorry I was so lazy...I read the manual section before I started and looked at it again before I posted.
