ok so I try to preflight bike to make sure everything is ok before takeoff....but I carry a spare sparkplug/socket/5" vicegrips/double headed screwdriver/fuses/bit of rag/ziptie/penknife.....looking for nice, smallish, took roll thing to maybe strap to right side of rear frame loop? do not want tools in side panel in case dzus lets goes and panel with expensive paint job slides down road...…new café racer seat sits close to frame and will not allow roll between seat pan and fender...suggestions?

For over 30 years I carried a few tools in my canvas shoulder bag, not once did I ever use them on my Norton while out, but I was prepared for anything and saved a few mates that had problems, now I just carry my multi tool in its leather pouch in my leather jacket pocket, still haven't used it lol.
You could mount a leather tool bag down low at the front of your frame or on under your head light where the bottom triple tree is, or on the rear guard rail or even behind the seat across the frame rail, but the stock Commando tool kit use to sit inside the side cover nice and neatly without any problems.

I was a boy scout. Troop 151 (no lie). Be prepared.
Always have had a full side cover of tools. Have used them.

Love rum.

Have a look at the Kriega tool roll, good quality and not as expensive as the Norton one - if too big then they also do smaller accessory pockets

I carried a Leatherman for a while and recently upgraded to a bulkier, but far more comprehensive multi tool variant by Victorinox (the Swiss Army Knife people).

I carry the stock open-end wrenches, 4 chromed box-end wrenches, a 4-way screwdriver, various hex keys since I eliminated the cheese-head screws and some of the flatheads for socket heads (of course the shortened hex key for the intakes), a shock spanner, pliers, a plug wrench and tommy bar with two fresh plugs and a box-end I cut in half for the axles. I wrap the whole works in a rag and stuff into a leather pouch that attaches to the grab rail of the Titanic or just to the rear loop of the SS clone.

The wife doesn't allow me to leave on one of the old bikes without tools since she has had to either bring me a tool or come pick me up when things went south.

I love the look of a norton head,it is a stand alone piece of art to my eyes.......have you just had inserts installed in the exhaust ports?

Its a JC RH1 head, inserts on the exhaust ports and 3/8" threads along with Kibblewhite valves/guides and back from the vapour blasters as were a set of Serco Motorsport prepped Moto Guzzi heads.

I just have a sturdy cotton bag , roll it all up & tie it to the main frame tube near the battery .
Carry as much as you like , can't be seen or stolen .

Mine has resided in the side cover for 44 years. The Dzus fastener has never let go.

The Mk3 has a little tray and vinyl tool pouch for the OEM tools under the seat. I still have both and with the Mk3 hinged seat they are real handy.
