Ohhhhhkaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy......

Sounds like your wordsmithing was accurate for those machines?

Yes. My point in my discussion with him was putting in place critical devices/systems with no robust support plan or model. It was all in his head. Kinda put a lot of risk into our global operations. Much better to work with an outside organization to build the items to his spec's and provide technical documents for support.
I see this in small companies building cars or motorcycles or parts. If they ever go under, then there is no support for the customers. The S.A. Commando owners are living with this now to some extent.

Yes, I got your point about that. We had such process machinery, built by others, and I was blessed to be charged with repairing them. No schematics. No wire numbers.

We also saw this in my department (IT) when asked to solve issues for the research groups. In the early days when the company was much smaller, it was very efficient to just jump in a build/program a solution for the group asking for help, a "point" solution. As the company matured and expanded 10x-100x, such point solutions became a nightmare. Nothing talked to other systems, everything was silo'ed away and impossible to get at/search across etc. Plus it needed an army of support staff, each with expertise in very limited areas.

My issue of CBG arrived yesterday , been thinking on that exact Commando since , would have to move my GT1000 to have one …. My wife say the Norton ship has already left port , guess ya know what She say ….is a nice ride though , great amalgamation of parts ….

Buzzwords are used to exclude people from conversations. After I retired, I was teaching a group
of young agriculltural students about labour management, on a sessional basis. The first thing I did was teach them all the buzzwords. I gave them a list and told them to use the web and write a paper using any two of the buzzwords, then stand in front of the group and do a presentation. IT is the exercise that many managers do every day,.

I once attended a computer conference where the most used word was 'paradigm'. I do not think they relly knew the meaning of that word or of 'cognitive dissonance'.

Slightly off topic...I don't think my wife would let me buy another motorcycle for $128,000.
.
My wife comfortably relies on my built-in self governing cheapness.

She knows that unless we won the lottery, I'd not consider spending that much gold on anything with wheels.
Even then, I have a plan for long range fiscal responsibility.
I plan to CHARTER personal jet aircraft as needed, not BUY one. 🤣🤡

There is something about the 961 which makes it look wrong. The primary looks heavy rather than functional, and the rest of the bike looks weird. The cafe racer version is a bit betteer. I think I would rather have a Ducati which has been shaped by racing.

I agree with every syllable.

An acquaintance just bought this, a modern salami slicer, but full of the 2 cylinder "character" so sought after.

You’d rather have a Ducati than a Norton 961!! Sir, you should be smite from the heavens for such heresy!! Or at the very least, tied to some stocks in the centre of Federation Square (using spaghetti) and pelted with last nights half eaten pizza slices!

I have to go and lie down for a while - to contemplate the meaning of life:oops:!!?
