Hello all, been awhile. Stripping the ol girl down for some top end work and noticed this nick on the timing side rod. Curious what your thoughts are (no, they are not D rods):

Looks like mark from a previous ill handled assemble and not from internal operational issues. Polish it up, look for hidden line.

You can work it out with sandpaper if you are without a buffer.

Yep sir not hardly a blem to even bother with but agree for peace of mind and sense of mechanical accomplishment, lightly sanding out deepest valley in longitudinal strokes would make us all feel at peace but even more so with some rubbing or buffing with polish till a bit shiny in lowest spot. Be WAY more leary of re-using rod bolt or nut and assure its seat is square and nothing shaved off under as bolt seats. That is not where rods get nicks when mounted in cases so prior storage scar that's lasted so relieving mind even more. Only the Z-plates might be more over built permanent lasting robust and I'm loosing some faith in my Z plates recently but not my used rods.
