Not happy, collarbone is not healing & Consultant has now agreed to my request to pin it, climbing the walls without riding. On Friday my Consultant said have you tried taking a bike out, I replied nope, I've been trying to be sensible., then he said - oh give it a try (turns out he's an ex-biker)!

So Sunday, we had sunshine! I drained the sump, checked the tyre pressures & Nellie started 1st kick (after standing since early May). I managed 30 miles or so & stopped at the Tempest for a pint! Sanity restored (not without discomfort) , short trips will be the order of the day for a while, just need to ensure that I don't fall off again!

The New Normal..?

Car Park closed, but there's always somewhere to slip in a Commando...

The New Normal..?

no seating inside & waitress service; nice view down the Brant valley towards Grantham...

The New Normal..?

No ESB, so Summer Lightning will have to suffice...

Guzzi has been collected for servicing & fitting of crash bars, should be ready at the end of the week!

Well, as you're in the area, if it's not healing I can highly recomment Brian Simpson in Ipswich

https://www.physioclinic.net/

Almost every racer uses him.

Last time I had 23 fractures, hobbled in, walked out and was back working a week later lifting servers

I have had broken bones fixed in several different ways over the years , having a break set and immobilized is much too time consuming and uncomfortable , the pins , bolts etc. have become for me best fix ,seems like a more speedy recovery all in , down side is a bit of a pain first day or two after the job gets done .... either choice you make , Good on you for getting out there on 2 wheels !!! and enjoying what looks like a gorgeous day in your Country side .... good luck !

' Well, as you're in the area, if it's not healing I can highly recomment Brian Simpson in Ipswich' - thanks, sadly that's a long way from me! As to servers, I'm guessing you mean IT equipment not waiters ;) I took my son to Ipswich for an interview with BT a couple of years ago; on the way back, following some spirited, B road driving, the rear damper seals blew on my Z4 just south of Grantham. For the last part of the journey the clatter from the rear end could be heard over the stereo!

I should have the collarbone plated & pinned at the start, they wanted to try natural healing first, avoid the risk of Covid, & they were struggling to get PPE, so it seemed the best way to go; now getting very irritating!

Hi Mike
I’ve been doing short runs for the last couple of months. Although never having been injured while riding I’m a little apprehensive. With the hospitals over capacity with COVID patients I would not want to visit one. Keeping it well within my limits. Greetings from California.

At least you've good brew near rather than belly wash, so life with a good ride ain't so bad after all. Hope you get fixed up soon.
