The MK3 thread

I have one with roadster side covers, pipes and Dunstall Decibels, Interstate tank and seat and grabrail, and Smiths clocks.
So, yeah maybe we don't all speak through peashooters as noted.
The search feature works soooo good that I usually sit and read for lenghty periods about topics tangential to the original subject, and I enjoy it all.
Leave well enough alone please.
All the best.

All this talk about mk111 nortons not being a real norton is just crap. I've had heaps to nortons over the years and in my opinion the MK111 was the best norton built. They don't leak oil - sealed primary - and ther're the most reliable. i'm getting old and the electric start does work - with a modern starter etc. Yes they are heavier and may be a bit slower, but i'll sacrifice that for realibility.
I have done serious miles on mine. Any norton is a great motorcycle. MK 111's are great bikes when set up properly just like earlier models. This forum is where I look when I want info - let's keep it this way.

Do you really think I should?

Some of my best friends ride MK3s
I happen to be married to a MK3. We must all come together for the sake of all Commandos.
End MK3 racism now!

and please let the thread run, it is pretty entertaining 8)

I have a Mk3 street bike, as well as a couple of non-Mk3 Norton race bikes. Of course I keep them apart in separate but equal locations.

I agree with everything above.
one thing though......... I don't think that I have ever heard anyone say that MK3's are not "real" Nortons.

Horses for courses this one, the MKIII was just another update to suit an ailing company utilising old technology and a market where the $ reigned supreme. It might be different from the others but don't see the need or use for a separate section in the forum. I own one and enjoy it being reliable, light (my brother laughs at this) comfortable and cheap to run.

As a Mk 111, owner and rider (set up with rear-sets), enjoying the thread and the site as is!

I own a mk3 (actually many pieces of one). It doesn't matter to me if there is a dedicated mk3 area or not, as long as the following criterion are met on the big site:

1. Parts for sale area (check)

2. Parts wanted area (check)

3. Answers to my technical questions (check)

4. Cool pictures of all kinds of Nortons (check)

Hmmm. OK, I'm good
