I had a hard time rotating the crank by myself no matter which method I used. Working alone and paranode about poking a hole in the top of a piston I had to come up with an easier way. It just so happened I had a recently removed irrigation motor and pump behind the Norton. Laying next to the motor was a strap wrench used to disconnect the pump and a light went off.

Attached are pics of degree wheel stuck on and one of the strap wrench attached. You just have to make sure you don't bump the degree wheel. Fairly easy if was a narrow belted strap wrench.
