Strandbeest Are Evolving

Beyond what some call the Art of Perpetual Motion (or, more ridiculously, Perpetual Performance Art), who knew that scientists had been trying to solve what is true perpetual motion for centuries!

I vaguely understood that it wasn't possible, due to those ‘pesky laws of physics’. A bit of a scientific holy grail leads to some interesting stuff.

When I was at school I did a project that I thought was genius.

I had learned about gearing and calculating gearing and power requirements etc.

I was adamant I could design an electric motor circuit, that by powering through a series of gears, could then drive a generator.

It was my Dad who calmly pointed out to me the conundrum of perpetual motion.

Thus bursting yet another bubble !
