STIFF clutch pull

I run a standard 750 clutch pack and pressure plate with an extra steel plate, on both my 750 and my 850. I have a Barnett cable on the 750 and a Venhill on the 850. Easy pull, no slip, works great! :D I think CNW grinds the pressure plate down a little thinner on their kit but I have not needed to do so.

I found that cable routing can make a huge difference, so that's something to check.

I put a venhill cable on the other day routed around the headstock, down the top of the frame from front to rear, and down the side inbetween the oil lines. I checked the clutch rod actuator , and it's just as tough to move by hand so I guess I'm gonna have to dive into my clutch next week.

I had a profound revalation about clutch pull after installing some new friction plates. The new clutch was easier to pull in. The difference was only a combined .010 inch of thickness in the stackup and I could feel it. This led me to the clutch stackup investigation, and after installing a .065" extra steel plate (they're available in various thicknesses from Old Britts) my clutch was totally transformed. I wish I'd found that solution 20 years ago.
