Here is a couple of pics of a steering damper fit up using a variable adjustment Scott unit.
Used 2 x 1" split collars around the down tubes so it is all removable, only thing welded is the 2 x 6mm bolts cut to length and TIG'ed to the bottom yoke .Not ideal for a Roadbike unless you dont mind the welded parts to the bottom yoke.
