Do your selves a favour and get a mk3. You can even sit backwards if you like, and just press the button, it starts every time. And you never get tired of the novelty of starting a big British twin with an electric start. 40 years ago I owned a cantankerous Atlas, I reckon I have done enough kicking to last a life time.

33 years without a stand didn't worry me as there are always fences, walls, post and even buildings to lean the bike on, at lease I did not have a stand that scraped when hooking around a few tight corners and it made you learn to start your Norton without reling on your stand to start it.

I used to keep mine running 24/7 in the shed for years on end. Did nothing but top it up with petrol every month or so.

I built my Featherbed 850 to save on weight, since I built it I have shave so much weight off it and would be very close to a 300lb bike, I don't even have a battery so I think a E/S will be a waste and one kick don't take much effort at all and sometimes i even beat my mates to starting up so can be as quick as a finger on a button, my Norton has always been like this ever since new, has never let me down, even with flogged out Amals it still started first kick.

Amazing to me my P!! was always first kick even seasons set up - or if clutch plates stuck and roll off and snick in gear then roar up would do it. P!! was my only transport a lot of times so in big city or university not so easy to find or be allowed to leave cycle there. Out in my rural area to visit some folks its so steep where gate is to work one can't use any stand and touchy balancing on fence post and not shift a bit then flop over and slide a way. I've had to find rocks and wood etc to put under P!! and Peel to fix flats away from home. SV650 has no center stand so a pain in the bottom to lift up by floor jack against a pole paint shielded by jacket or such. At home a sky hook does it. Some like blonds some like red heads, some just wigs - so get what ya can live with eh. Center stand weighs ~8 lb, side stand ~4 lb. ES+kit maybe 25 lb.
