Can someone tell me which terminal the red/white and purple/white wires go to? I don't want to assume red/white is positive and purple
/white is negitive. The workshop manual is not to clear. Or maybe it's just me, LOL thanks in advance, Chuck.

If you study the wiring diagram, you should see that WR (white/red, not red/white) is the power wire to the solenoid from the handlebar starter button switch, and WP (white/purple, not purple/white) is the ballast resistor bypass wire that directs full battery voltage to the 6V coils during starter motor operation from the solenoid, therefore, WR should be connected to the solenoid 'S' spade terminal, and WP to the 'I' terminal, unless electronic ignition is fitted in which case, there must be no direct connection between the solenoid and the coils, so do not connect WP to the solenoid (although hopefully where EI is fitted, WP will already have been disconnected from the coils)?
