Speedo drive binding mk3

Add a shim/thin washer between the 06.5547 spacer and the sprocket bearing (no brake hub on a Mk3) or fit a longer spacer.

May be of use... I had an issue when replacing a speedo gearbox in a hurry, I didn't notice that the cheap 'metal' in the speedo boss had separated from the body (yes I know!) - thus creating an extra washer (it was covered in dark grease/oil from chain & stuck to the washer - 06.5549), this caused the disk to bind on the caliper as the axle was tightened. So back to conscious competence, clean & lay stuff out clearly in good light & take one's time!

I got a assorted package of shims from McMasterCarr and trial fitted the dummy axle until it stopped binding and then went another .010”. I think the final number was .030”

same problem this eve. Brand new speedo gearbox and brand new spacer. I had to install a .020 spacer to get it to run freely.
