Hi again everyone I have recently fitted new rear wheel bearings so thought I should do the drive sprocket as well and wish I had not bothered because every time I re-assemble something is binding, it feels like it is the speedo drive but cannot really be sure if I slacken the hub nut slightly everything is free, the new bearing is a sealed bearing so I have not replaced the seal and the bearing appears to be the same size, the speedo drive is perfectly free until nipped up can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong as it has me baffled, many thanks Chri

My Mk3's speedo drive gearbox rubbed against the sprocket until I added a spacer shim. Also, check the joint face of the drive gearbox is flat.

Hi again where did you place the shim between speedo g/box and frame thanks

Assuming this is the problem then the shim needs to go on the inside of the drive gearbox to space it further away from the sprocket boss.

There should be a 1 1/2" O/D washer (below) on the outside between the drive gearbox and the swinging arm (chain adjuster).

Hi again LAB I placed a spcer where you suggested and it appears to have done the trick. Thanks again for your knowledgable help Chris
