I have an old non-welded rotor I want to replace. Sparx rotors cost a lot less. Will they fit, or is the OD not exactly the same? Don't want to upgrade to an entire Sparx system at this time.

Debbie,
They are the same. Jim

debby,
If I recall the Sparx rotor bore can tend to be a little on the tight side. Not a huge issue, but just be aware of the possibility. I'd rather it be a little tight than a little loose.

I have a Sparx rotor and Lucas stator in my Mark 3.

After 2 Sparx stators burned out on me in a couple of thousand miles each, I decided to give up on them. They were purchased as part of the Sparx 3-phase kit, with rotor/stator/and reg/rectifier unit.

The stators failed in exactly the same manner both times - the wire outer housing and insulation dried out and disintegrated near the point where the wires entered the stator housing on both stators. Don't know why - there is oil in the primary, all electrics functioning OK. Just one of those things.

In any case, you will end up with the same set up I have, which seems to be just fine.

good luck

Hi, is there any difference (in quality) between sparx and wassel rotor and/or stator............???
