Hello,

Over the winter i have been sorting out some issues on my '74. Current issue...

Bike starts and idles fine but will blow a fuse after a couple minutes. It usually happens when turning the bike on or off. When replacing the fuse she starts right up until i stop and then the fuse blows again.

I believe i have traced the short in the electrical system down to the Sparx 3 system. Frustrated after going through every wire, top to bottom i started to see a drain coming through the brown / blue wire that connects to black wire on the Sparx 3 solid state rectifier. I disconnected the red and black wires coming off the rectifier and this issue has stopped. No more blown fuses.

Question for you guys....

1 - Do any of you have a Sparx 3 diagnostic sheet? Something that will help me dig in to where the issue is coming from with the system?

2 - I know there have been some issues with the last batch of Sparx 3's. Do you guys know if anyone has good working ones available for sale?

As always, thanks for all your help.

If you are talking about the three phase alternator, yes, the stators from a recent batch are defective.
