The vertical lines are so faint, more mirror like than scored.
I'm just guessing with bit of my fun to put you through what Wes did-does me on his seasoned assessment when things not looking perfect, often enough Wes is right. The shiny piston areas [w/o NASA optics & urinalysis] looks more like impressions to me than metal impressed. But shoot even NASA has eliminated photos [other's saved] that show fluffy white object that appears in between latest Mar's rover tracts -- then not in others later... ???
This is part of the mystic and mechanics manhood tests and making of a Nortoneeer, how lucky do ya feel punk or how much time and money available to spend to know for sure. Ken Canaga told me a couple years ago - he was buttoning up the final head placement on another make of bike he'd just redone, but dropped a fastener down the push tunnel, so took the whole bike down to get out engine then it apart to retrieve the part and re-do what he'd just done again, Ugh...
The main risk I can think of is swarf blocking the sump drain passage for wet sump tendency for extra oil on bores towards a smoking habit. The cases swell with heat then contract by time you open up which can trap the swarf in there no amount of flushing can remove, only hi heat and wire or hi pressure blast of fluid.
Almost every man hood testing mechanical event I've had with Commandos was no fault of my own, just inherited unknowns > till too well known... Taking easy care in operation is no protection at all either I found out. I'm of opinion and practice now to rev the snot out of a new built, as that is best way to run it in initially and best time and place to find out >>>
Do not look up youtube Moon landing fraud. I'm physics, optics and ionizing radiation trained in particles and photons phenomena and grew up with space program bleeding over into our Fla. schools science programs, so left very depressed as if Gravity jerked out from under me, another concept that may not be as NASA claims either. ugh.
