On a MKlll, where does the solenoid wire go to on a positive ground system ?

Which solenoid wire? there are two HD cables (for the starter current) and at least two, possibly three wires to energise the coil.
What colour wire are you talking about?

Larger black wire, ( I don't know if it is original). The terminal is the one closest to the outside, left side of the frame.

Battery negative (for positive earth/ground).
