CRAP Jim, I had clinic ransaked in Houston but long scine moved away to place I do not lock up clinic so folks come by pick up stuff and leave cash in box on the counter. Location Location Location. I have back pack oxy/acyl torch that is quiet and used to open gates and cut hinges plus cordless tools are great opening so w/o electronics or live guard its hard to protect things. Dogs are pretty easy to shut down too just toss some anti freeze soaked rags that hardly anyone knows to posion train them to so coast clear next day. Hope you can shake this hit off and maybe the thieves caught and cycles recovered intack.

I bought a nice surveillance system just last week. I about have it set up now.

You reported them missing promptly, with good details ?
Particularly the word 'orange'.

Hopefully someone will find them abandoned someplace, not too bashed about.
Sometimes a call to the local radio station can get quick results, if they will oblige.

I've had a bit of trouble with trailbikes and kids over the years,
seems there is something that really attracts them.
On one occassion, looked out to see kids swarming on the garage roof, removing tiles !
The fuzz were round quick smart (so fast it was suspicious !) and rounded them up,
but removing tiles is not a hanging offence (yet), so refitting the tiles saw no further trouble.
The oldest was about 10, so I doubt they were even big enough to ride it.
And there was the problem that the garage door was still locked...!?!

it is a shame that you cant wire it so you would find them there in the morning but just a little crispy. that way there last job was a conductor.

This looked like a pretty professional job. Four bikes in the same evening, two others from a place near me.

I have little hope of seeing them again. The officer that took the report was very professional but this is Pueblo Colorado -AKA Little Amsterdam -where smoking dope is encouraged but if you get caught riding a dirtbike, your in big shit. Jim

Not good Jim and being a professional gang the chances of seeing the bikes again isn't looking good at all, but you never know, I got my old 250 Honda trials bike back after a week it was stolen but that was in 1976, anyway hope they get the ARSEHOLES.

I learned enough of this sort of thing growing up in Miami to think someone Jim knows knew where and when to hit. I would not shoot anyone stealing my cycles unless I could dispose of the bodies in hog pens or such as the after effects inside and out may not be worth it and gangs tend to take revenge on innocent family and pets. Hidden GPS locator might help next time.

In Texas boating days we would not get back until wee am hours and had van broken into so devised a multi level alarm. Proximity sensor with soft female voice saying, careful I am armed, then contact/shake/noise sensor that set off normal type alarm, then if window break or shake sensed, powerful sky rockets launched from behind spare tire to air burst, if door opened the trip wire triggered warehouse size tear gas canister when off.

I'm with Steve in that it was probably somebody relatively familiar. It's not hard to imagine your daughter talkin about ridin KTM's with her dad to a friend who harmlessly mentions it to somebody else who's willing to go get them.

I caught a guy trying to steal my Skilsaw early one morning a long time back. It was satisfying beating his ass and lecturing him at the same time about not stealing from people who work for a living.

In the construction industry, we use tool lockups called "iron lungs" which are basically thick corrugated steel walk-in boxes with shrouded locks that can only be accessed with a key so boltcutters and the like are useless to gain access. I have seen thieves use small portable oxy/acetylene torches to cut holes in the sides and steal the tools within. If someone wants in badly enough, there's not much you can do other than 24/7 surveillance.

Having been house invaded and robbed and having dealt with The Authorities I can tell you that a alarm will deter kids to some extent but not
professionals and not druggies.
The advice of the detectives?

GET IT ALL INSURED.

Nothing else will work. They steal the Norton? You collect and get another.

Far better than having no bike and no money.

So sad that it has come to that but there you are.

Here, it's popular in some low circles to "do" the place, wait 6 - 8 weeks for the insurance to pay out, then go back and get the new shiny stuff too.
I know you said you aren't insured, but I doubt they are members on here to know that...
Guard your shit well.
