The old hammer wacker using the metals edge will cut the gasket material.Cutting rocker box gaskets will be easy, I timing cover gasket somewhat more difficult.
A pair of sharp scissors may get close to the shape, punch the bolt holes then assemble the gasket and rocker covers and nip up.
Then trim the gaskets in place using a scalpel
Shell casings also work good for gasket hole cuttersAn exacto knife works but you have to be very carefull. An electric engraving tool with a sharpened blade instead of a point works best. A hole punch or piece of sharpened tubing will cut the holes. I made some fiberglass reinforced silicone gaskets that way when I was getting started. It got old real fast.
A shotgun cartridge isn’t likely to have quite the same effect is it ?!In the UK we tend not to have shell casings hanging around
Oh yes it isThere is something strangely satisfying about trimming gaskets in situ. Not quite OCD
I was thinking 'what is a shell casing', mentally ran through main bearing shells, sea shells, couldn't think of any other type of shellIn the UK we tend not to have shell casings hanging around

I always have gasket sheets of different thickness, I don't mind making gaskets and always good having around in case you need it in a hurry.Jeez - back in the day when a Norton Commando was my only vehicle, I made most gaskets out of Oreo boxes and a smear of Permatex #3. Worked fine!!!![]()
