Silicone rocker cover gaskets

£45 + VAT (I get it back) will get 1m x 0.5M. How many gaskets out of that?
Scalpel, a hole punch and a little bit of care
Book your slot in A&E for stitches now mate 🤣

Reminds me of a shopping trip to Halfords a while back….

I asked the 12 year old behind the counter if they stocked gasket paper.

He answered “what’s the make and model of the vehicle sir”? I jest not.

There followed a brief Monty Python style chat as I tried, in vain, to explain.

Eventually the manager came out, I asked him and he almost laughed as he said “Ohhh! No-one does that these days sir” as if I wanted to make a flint axe !!

If I cudda reached over I’d have written “chocolate” and “teapot” on their respective name badges !!

Cutting rocker box gaskets will be easy, I timing cover gasket somewhat more difficult.
A pair of sharp scissors may get close to the shape, punch the bolt holes then assemble the gasket and rocker covers and nip up.
Then trim the gaskets in place using a scalpel

The old hammer wacker using the metals edge will cut the gasket material.

An exacto knife works but you have to be very carefull. An electric engraving tool with a sharpened blade instead of a point works best. A hole punch or piece of sharpened tubing will cut the holes. I made some fiberglass reinforced silicone gaskets that way when I was getting started. It got old real fast.

Shell casings also work good for gasket hole cutters

A shell casing, flattened on the end, also is good at cleaning out the valleys of files. Much better than a file card. After a few strokes, the casing is profiled to fit into the groves
