I just wondered if anyone has used silicon pipes for oil tank feed an return lines??
I have used silicon hose before for water pipes (not on Commando obviously  ) an vacuum hoses. It seems more flexible than rubber or stainless braided hose an doesn't seem to harden with age use and heat which i reason is good for isolating the tank from damaging vibration. There is no real pressure in tank hoses (not talking about rocker feed) but it is normally listed for coolant use an temperature of 150 to 180 degrees centigrade an its my understanding that oil can reach higher temperature in hard use. I live an ride in damp old England so i don't think high air temperature or strong sunlight will be a problem here :D

The silicone hose is prone to chafing rapidly. Also, I've not seen any silicone oil hose. Suction could collapse it. I would not recommend it. Stick with purpose built oil line. JMWO

Yep, concours is dead right. Silicone has a lot of good properties, but it's not ideal with hot oil. It's best in hot dry air and it's very good
for UV and ozone resistance . A hose (ie a reinforced tube) might work, but would be an expensive way of getting a second rate result.
Stick with recognised oil/fuel hose and it'll keep the oil off your back tyre.
I do this for a living, so it's nice to have my first post being of use to someone else!
