Side stand problems

If you modified your centre stand properly, it wont wear out the cradle, so that comment is bullshit. I'd rather always start the bike on MY PROPERLY MODIFIED CENTRE STAND than make a Dick of myself trying to start it while sitting on it with no stand down. Now you big buggers may be ok, maybe you are too big to look after a centre stand, but I am very small, and need my weight to start the bike correctly the first time.

Alrighty then shorty, why don't you post a pic of your center stand mod.......would be more useful than calling BS on what has been known for ages. I would say more than half the cradles out there have worn holes because of people starting their bike on the stand.

Sure would like to see the centerstand fix for real. I've met someone who put in sealed small bearings and he was happy with that. As for sidestand support yes you need a grade 8 or better avoiding thread contacting the bush-tube area. The sidestand is actually a prop stand and is for temporary parking not jumping up and down on forces to bend, break or wear away. :|

Looking at the photo you supplied, it appears that there is not a good stop to keep the sidestand from revolving too far forward. If you know any decent welders, get someone to lay down some weld and build up a stop. Get them to lay on more than you need, then get in there with a disk grinder and shape the welded blob into a square stop at exactly where you want the sidestand to stop. Generally that will be about 10 degrees or so beyond 90 degrees. You will know when you have ground too much off........
