This is what happened when I went to the Post Office here in Oregon to inquire about shipping a stripped '73 Norton frame. I showed the agent a picture of the frame and gave him the H x L x W and weight measurements. He did his calculating and then said it is too big and the USPS will not ship it. End of story. Someone on the Forum stated you could ship via USPS coast to coast for $30 bucks. I found this not to be correct, at least with this agent, maybe you can find out otherwise. FYI.

Well I built a plywood box or crate and shipped a frame that I sold. It went from Houston to Malta via air freight. If your sending domestically to the lower 48 then there are many options.

Greyhound Bus will ship odd sizes and shapes from station to station.
I've used them many times to ship fenders, bumpers and door skins all over the continental United States.
United Parcel Service has very specific limits on size and weight.

That was me.

Perhaps it is down to the agent, because I shipped one half way across the country for about $30. (might have been $37, insured for $250)

I plastic-wrapped the steering neck and kickstand lug, and used a thin piece of paneling to affix the shipping label, then clear taped it across the rear hoop.It was just the bare frame, no cradle, no swingarm.

I measured it carefully, (odd shaped package), weighed it, and printed out the postage from the online app (you also get an additional discount that way).

Then, I walked up to my local post office "will call" door, buzzed the buzzer, handed it to the clerk, and walked away. The teller window guys get horsey with bigger stuff and want to be left alone.

The frame arrived at the destination 4 days later.

I've had quite a few Commando frames shipped from the US by the regular Ebay bike dismantlers by USPS.
This is my take on it, yes they are supposed to be dimension wise to big for USPS. I think what the above guys do
is create an online shipping label maybe using questionable dimensions. They always arrive often wrapped in USPS
packing tape.

When the postal worker at the "back door" can pick it up with one hand, they don't worry about it.

When it's large AND heavy, you get a red flag.
